Not endorsing any particular product, just saw it and thought "that's a good, simple idea".

Interesting, nice samples, I wonder how it sounds with guitar.

Hi SP-1
I must be getting old, as I was unable to find any samples on, any of his links.
Or maybe they just don't show up in FireFox 3.x?

Eveyhere I looked it said samples = 0 of 0 samples.

I'd like to make one of these. The circuit is dead simple.

"Now, as we turn the potentiometer, we increase the resistance between the battery and the circuit, thereby lowering both the current and voltage."

Do both the voltage & current drop?
I would think according to Ohm's Law V=IR as the resistance increases & a fresh 9V battery maintains near 9V, only the current goes down.
What am I missing here?

Some of the voltage drops across the pot... so the voltage applied to the circuit board is 9V minus the drop across the pot.

I'd be really careful with this simple circuit - normal pots are only rated at maybe 0.5 Watts. If there was (say) a 4.5V drop across the pot at the half-way point (maximum power transfer), the maximum safe current through the pot to the circuit board would be only 20mA. Any more than that and the pot would fry. Actually ignore all this... it would be worse right near the minimum resistance... can't work the numbers out quickly in my head, but it would be much better to use an industrial size pot.

Better to use a 2W wirewound pot (or maybe that's what the circuit calls for).

Mmmmm, I can see the samples right between the text and photos on the ebay link. Maybe it has something to do with firefox indeed, but I'm no expert.

on the SKB Stage Five pedal board you can set your power outlets (all 12!)a little lower in voltage to give it that drained sound(big selling point for me)...and it's got a cable tester to boot

Its curious that an 9V alkaline battery can output ~565mAH, yet most people don't consider a 9V to be dangerous but...
