I was hoping somebody would have two pots for a CE-2 I picked up? The ones that are in it are spun. Too bad, because this is a May 81 Long Dash. If nobody wants to part with original parts, please direct me to a good replacement. Thank you.

Hi
In the USA, the only place I know of is Smallbear Electronics. He has a heap of pedal repair bits. Even some of the stranger items.
The pots i the CE-2 are standard 16mm diameter 18 tooth spline with split shaft. He'll know what you need, & they are only a couple of dollars each.
Tell him Dr. Bob sent you...
Good Luck

Thanks "Dr. Bob", I was really hoping to find some Orig's, but if I put replacements in I might just (shhh don't tell anyone) modify it?

Hi Scrappy The 16mm 18 spline pots, I suggested from Smallbear & other suppliers, are identical looking to the Old Boss ones, you won't even know the difference.
I have replace a heap of similar pots in vintage gear, and like I said above, no-one will be the wiser. If you'r worried about the Vintage MOJO Tone... Don't Be.
At least you won't have to contend with VINTAGE SCRATCHY.
And what do you really mean the pots are SPUN?
Do they just need a spray to get rid of the scratchy noise?

What I meant by spun: I can actually spin the knob post around 360 degrees over and over. I have never seen anything like this. The post actually lifts out also. I scored this May 81 CE--2 and a March 83 DM2 and a Aug 85 PSM-5 for $80 total. DM-2 and PSM-5 work perfectly! The DM-2 is missing the intensity knob and has a couple of small holes drilled in the side, but works great like I said. I'm not complaining. Where can I find original knobs? |

Hi scrappy1
Whle at work today. I was thinking about what I wrote. On the older-est CE-2's the Shafts on the pots were the type without the Splines, & the knobs were attached with a small grub screw.
Apologies, if I misinformed you. Which type of shaft do your pots have?
Smallbear might also have the non-spline, non-split shaft pots as well.

Non-spline split ones. No problem and you didn't mis-inform me. You got me hooked up! Thank you!

I finally put the pots in and the pedal is fine. The pots that I got were split with no splines. I had to use repop knobs, but they look correct. The effect seems a little faintor more subtle compared to my other 4 CE-2's? Not sure if it is the pots or ??????? I'm keeping this one in my pedal lineup as it is worn more than my Mintys'! |

Good news scrappy1
It's probably more to component aging. and the fact they YOU know the pots have been replaced.
As an experiment, you could always swap out the pots with one of the other CE-2's that you do like. Do another listening test. Then swap them back.
Did you get the right values & tapers on the pots?
