Im currently making a Boss Only pedlaboard project up, with just some essencials and a couple something diffrent effects.
So far ive got my SD-1, CH-1 and TR-2 for the essencials, and all id like now is a couple of pedals that are the something diffrent.
Does anyone have suggestions on what effects i should go for, old or new. I was thinking about the DN-2, OC-3 and FZ-5 for those 2 posistions.
What suggestions would you make???
thanks in advance |

I'd add a delay pedal.
But then again, I think most stuff can be obtained with a decent delay pedal and an amp. |

+1 for a delay, maybe a filter/wah pedal? I'd highly recommend the FT-2 if you can track one down: It does the envelope filter/autowah thing, but also doubles up as a regular pedal wah with an expression pedal plugged in.
Or are you just looking at current production pedals?

MMMm....
Ive got a DD-6 that im thinking about trading in as i just cant seem to get it to sound exactly like the delays on my Lone 6 pods with the delay time of 485ms... And its just overkill i feel as a delay pedal for me.
I may get the classic DD-3 on that note, as it may be closer to what i want in dialing in a delay time.
I was thinking about the PS-5 as well for something thats totally diffrent, but again may be overkill.
Then i come arround to the Octaver again, as i need a good, but not spectacular octaver, and can get a OC-3 pretty quick, but i know someone that is prepaired to sell a used OC-2 at the moment, whitch may be a goer.
But the DN-2 is something i keep coming back to as its a OD/Dist box thats diffrent, and thats what im wanting... Altho, i may also go for the PH-3 as well on that note as its a diffrent kind of phaser than the EVH Phase 90 and PH-1 i already have, and i do like my phaser sounds much.
I have rulled out the FZ-5 as i am not really sold on the COSM thing yet, unless someone convinces me to the contary. |

And how exact do you want the delay? 485ms seems pretty exact, any Tap Temp will get you to within a few ms. No compact Boss pedal allows you to fine tune the delay time. The only Boss pedal that allows exact control over the delay times is the DD20... you set the time to an exact ms or an exact bpm.
The use of a delay requires a very good ear to copy number of repeats & repaet volume. Also, when trying to copy a delay sound it's vital that you realise the delay is not always be at the end of the effect chain... try it pre-chorus, or even pre-distortion.
As I said earlier, I think a delay and an amp are the essentials to get any sound from your guitar. |
