| What goes around comes around, cause its not like Cobflake has not done that dozens, if not hundreds, of other times for auctions. |

I thought that it might have made for an interesting repair project, had the bidding not gone too high, and now that I have an oscilloscope on the bench for circuit tracing -- but I wasn't going to put up more than $100.00 or so for it, and was fairly certain that I was going to be outbid, seeing what the working ones fetch now. It just wasn't worth any more than that to me.
I still think that the level of hype surrounding the DM-2/DM-3 has gotten completely ridiculous. Having heard both, an original long-chip DD-2 with the rolloff mod easily outperforms it, especially at longer delay times, I don't care what anyone says. BBDs work very nicely for short delay times (chorus, flanging), but one you get into the hundreds of milliseconds or higher their inherent noise and other limitations become too apparent.
Solid state analog delays only found a market because mechanical tape delays had already gotten too expensive for most folks back then (I recall Echoplexes and Space Echoes going for $400-600 back in the late '70s / early '80s, and that was without worldwide Internet auctioning driving the prices up), not because they were necessarily any better.
But the Internet is great for propogating hype, and as long as there are suckers willing to buy into it then I guess you can't blame guys like cobflake for helping them empty their wallets.
Be sure to apply power with oxygen-free copper line cords; you know how much of an improvement that makes to the sound...

Ok, I'm going to let you guys in on a little secret of mine. But..ooh sacrelidge, it's not a Boss product so bear with me!
There is an old Ibanez digital delay from the 10series, the blue one DL10 which is the absolute best sounding and most underated thing. I figure being from the less popular 10 range, it has somehow gotten overlooked...but it can't last forever 'cos these really are great.
I reminds me of the PT80 from the DIY world, whose aim was to blend the warmth of analog (yes, ok then attenuated rolloffs) with the flexibility of digital. Sort of best of both worlds without poncing around trying to get a BBD to clock perfectly. Or try to get a BBD at all these days.
Darn thing is warm and flexible and cheap! Never popped the hood on mine to see whats going on with it, but most digital delays annoy me. You know, just sound digital!
OK..seriously its a winner...you can pick one up for ~$ 60 Quick! Get in now before cobflake makes them all disappear....only to magically reappear for $299!
Side note: be VERY careful buying any used BBD based delay that anyone has attempted to "improve" the delay time on by adjusting the trimmers. Unfortunately the habit of doing this has been circulating a lot recently and I can tell you they are a PITA to but back into spec, you need a scope to do it properly.
