It's a few ways to interpret that. The echo sound from analog pedals typically changes from the original signal. Clearer could mean that it changes less than other analog pedals. It could also mean that it's less noisy and that the echo shines through the background noise with more clarity.
Boss was comparing it to other analog delay pedals built at the time, or this text "The biggest difference between the DM-3 and the DM-2 was the built in noise reduction circuit..." DM-2 were noisy, so I've been told I belive the text was the advertising Roland used to hype the pedal when it was in production.

Mine just came in today. It is def a "clean" analog. It is pretty cool because it doesn't muddy up like the ibanez AD-9. It also adds a nice ambience. The slapback is great...Looking forward to tinkering with it tomorrow night.
