Hi Guys Alex my good friend & work colleague, that I somtimes mention here occasionally, has asked me to upload & share one of his original tracks.
I have been trying to politely convince Alex that he should become a member, as he has much to contribute, understands GAS, loves Tube Amps, has a real flair for music, & is an all round good guy.
His track is called "BUSHIDOKAN - The Final Journey" It's a 2.6M to download.
I put it up on my Dr. Bob Eng Site, in the downloads section, under Music downloads. Here is the page link to the file: Just click on "Download from this server".
http://drbob.ucoz.com/load/5-1-0-9
In my next post, I will add all the details that Alex wanted to share with you, about how he recorded & mixed the track.
He hopes you enjoy the track. He did mention that he has a few others to share in the future.
If anyone here would like to correspond with him via his private email, (Until I can finally convince him to join us) just PM me for the details.
Please leave any other general comments for him here on the forum.
Regards Dr. Bob on behalf of Alex.

About My Track
Hi Bob & guys, here's a bit about my track.
The track was written for Ultimate Martial Arts here in Victoria Australia which is where my sons attend classes in a style called Bushidokan which loosely translated means "Way of the Warrior".
The music is meant to represent the journey from introduction to Martial Arts through to earning your Black Belt in that it starts off fairly simple, calm and relaxed and gradually builds in intensity and complexity the same way their Martial Arts training does.
It was recorded using Garage Band on my Mac. I used a couple of different drum loops mixed together and also added in some cymbals hits and drum rolls manually to try to add a bit of feel.
All of the sounds apart were played through my CME UF8 - USB keyboard using sounds readily available in Garage Band apart from the Arturia Moog Soft Synth and bass & guitars.
The bass I used is a LTD B50 which I found to be a pretty good bass at a reasonable price and you can get a variety of sounds out of it which comes in handy.
The guitar is an American Fender Deluxe HSS Strat which I played through a BOSS GT8. I can't recall both patches but I'm pretty sure the lead track was a patch called something like OD1 + 1959.
I highly recommend Mac / Garage Band as I find it to be very user friendly and the quality is pretty close to pro. if you spend enough time on it. I have other programs like Logic Express & Sonar which give you better quality but I find Garage Band so easy to use that I just keep going back to it.
Anyway I hope you like the track and I would appreciate any constructive criticism, hints or feedback of any kind.
Cheers Alex. |

| Very nice... reminds me of Jeff Wayne's "War Of The Worlds" in places (Forever Autumn), probably down to the mood and instrumentation. |

I thought that as well funny enough... not specifically 'forever autumn' but defo a war of the worlds vibe to it,as Red said could be due to the analog synth leadline sound...very good overall and some great guitar playing.. ...thanks on the recording info... |

That flute sound would also sound good on some medieval movie soundtrack. I like the obnoxious bass sound. |

| Very nice, Dr. Bob. I really like it! It's sounds like a futuristic rock song with some vintage accents. Very good! |

Hi Guys, thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate you taking the time to write something.
I didn't intentionally go for a War of the Worlds sound but I have to admit I am a big fan of the Jeff Wayne production and no doubt it has influenced me in choices of sounds and attempting to create moods. Funny thing is I have another track which has even more of a W.O.T.W. groove to it but was pleasantly surprised with the references to this one.
Special Thanks to Dr.Bob for putting my stuff out there. Music is all about people listening and now anyone can hear and hopefully enjoy it. It also provides a bit of motivation to get more stuff finished so that I can post again some time.
Hope you all had a safe and enjoyable Christmas and have a Happy New Year !
Cheers |

Many thanks for the kind words people. I haven't logged on for a while and it really made my day to see new feedback. All any musician can hope for is that people will enjoy their work so if I have reached any audience at all and given you audio pleasure I'm truly very happy ! ! |

Hey Xander261, Welcome to the forum from The City of Brotherly Love! Funny, it is. Here we are on opposite sides of the planet, yet when I heard your music it was like you were right here! It is magic! If only all of us would spend more time making music, instead of contemplating war...well, there'd be more peace! Keep Rockin' Mate! |
