Thinking about a date when Boss switched to plastic card insulation. What is the latest serial number you have or have seen that has the insulation paper?
My pedals with paper insulation: SP-1 sn 7600 PH-1 sn 7000

8200 (PH-1) is the last one I have with the cardboard sheet. 9700 (BF-2) is the earliest pedal I have with the plastic sheet. |

DS-1 # 9200
edit: i'd say its white plastic - has cutout for the AC input and is about 1cm shorter than the case. dates to March 1980 |

Looks like it's narrowed down to 9000-9200. Does anyone have a pedal with serial 9100? |

reading the service notes, dec 26, 1980, for the ds-1, the info applies to series 9000 pedals, which coincides with 1980, which may have been a time of some wholesale changes, ie. introduce black screw, plastic insulation, and those old screws and deteroratable cardboard liners were updated. i dunno.
