I like this one better:
http://www.eklof-amps.com/eklof-amps.com/5F2A_Princeton.html
It is basically a 5F1 but has a low loss Tweed style tone control and a bigger (10") speaker.
The 5F1 was the first tube amp circuit I ever built. I've probably built 10-15 different versions of the 5F2-A Princeton. It is by far my favorite guitar amp circuit. |

Why don't they center the speaker in the cab?
If offset, will it reduce standing waves? |

It's to make room for the tube

I believe it was to keep the 6V6 tube from coming in contact with the speaker. Those old Jensen alnico speakers had a cover over the alnico magnet. The 5E3 is the same way.

Ahh, the obvious eludes me! haha.. I seem to be having an off day.
My thoughts were more toward the reduction of standing waves in the cabinet. Kind of like an untreated studio that could stand to use a few LENRDs (bass traps) even if imperceptible.
Thanks |

I've my first tube amp being repaired at the moment, a little Acetone 301. The original tube is impossible to find so we are doing a Fender Champ conversion on it. And as for GAS...
...I want an Electric Amp. Basically an American Matamp company. A nice little 4x12s half stack. |

The early Marshalls(JTM-45) were 'knock offs' of Leo's Bassman circuit...considering the some of the overpriced crap that Fender are producing these days,it's the reason that companies like this exist..to fill a niche in the market that Fender can't ...or won't......what sort of moolah is he talking for one of his amps Goran.....?........ |

Hi Goran & Guys
These look like stunning little amps. Nice craftsmanship as well.
=== slightly off topic & Tech Propeller Hat Warning === If you get a tube too close to the magnetic field of the magnet it will change the way the electrons in the tube flow.
=== DANGER here Will Robinson - don't try this at home ===
If you accidentally put a strong magnet near a tube, especially an output tube, while there is some music happening through the amp, you will hear the strange results, of the electrons being diverted from the Plate of the tube, & towards the magnetic field.
Technically I'm not 100% sure what long tern effect this would have on the life of the tube.
How do I know? As a teenager, I had a small tube combo (now long gone), I replaced the small Alnico speaker in it, with one that had a lager & more powerfull ceramic magnet on it. & moved it around while it was running, as it was very close to the output tube, & actually rubbing on the glass envelope in certain positions. It was an interesting audio experience to say the least.
I had to find a speaker with a smaller less powerful magnet, because of this limited space inside the small combo. === Propeller hats off ===
Remembering things like this. I sometimes wonder how we ever survived our younger & more daring years? ...
Regards Dr. Bob
