ok, this is a true story... when i moved in to the house where im living in now, there was a box on top of a cupboard and in that box were four mij pedals...a dm 2, a dc 2, a rv 2 and a ge 7. I had been collecting boss pedals for about 2 years so when i opened this little box i almost had a heart attack. I was and still am only a casual collector, but at that time i didnt even know what a dc 2 was(the dc 2 is amazing in stereo). these pedals are all unmodified and fully functioning.
Actually, I've had quite a few finds similar to this.....
but I can never find them once I wake up. |

| I bought a silver screw DS1 for $20. I also got a DD2 for about 50. The best deal though is when I paid $50 bucks for a Marshall Shredmaster and a Marshall Blues Breaker, Both in mint condition with boxes and one manual between the two of them. I got a Drive Master later that day as well in the same condition but no box(I figured why not have the set?) I made around $500 bucks on ebay. A frined of mine was GIVEN an SG1. |

I'd like to think I'm getting deals on all of my pedals and that's why I'm buying them. The only one I bought new from a store was my MIT DS-1 which was my 2nd pedal ever and I paid the $39 for it from guitar center. So here goes some of the highlights:
PN-2 - $40 (from a new Guitar Center that had just opened up) OD-1 - $60 DS-1 MIJ - $25 SD-1 - Free PS-2 - $20 DD-6 - Free PQ-4 - $60 (not great, but a pretty good price considering what they go for lately) SYB-5 - $60 (Brand New)
The following I all got with boxes and manuals in outstanding condition from a pawnshop for $30 a piece:
BF-3 OC-2 MT-2 AW-3 PH-3

I bought an 80s Yamaha SK20 synth/organ a few years ago, and the seller said he would "throw in" a pedal he had used with it to give "a nice stereo sound". Turned out to be an absolute mint cond CE-1!
The synth+pedal cost me 1500SEK (200$), and since I didn't find good use for the CE-1 I sold it for 2000SEK (250$). Later I also sold the synth for the same amount, so all in all a profit of 2500SEK (300$). Not to bad...
A year or so later I found a pair of slightly used pedals on sale at a musicstore in my region. An early CE-2 and a very nice VB-2, at 500SEK (65$) each. I sold the CE-2 (stupid!) for 700SEK (90$) and later also the VB-2 (stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid!) for 2800SEK (350$). A good profit, but I wish I could have afforded to keep them......grrrrr. |

Well, I don't know whether this really counts (I don't have it yet) but I'm in the process of attempting to swindle an NIB MIJ SS DS-1 (I really wanted to do that!) from my co-worker here in town. Not getting my hopes up, I haven't seen it yet, but he has pulled through on some great deals before, and he's the guy I purchased that SS SD-1 that was talked about in an earlier thread (http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=837).
Trust me, if this turns out not to be completely bogus, I'll be a very happy man. Especially seeing as he is frequently out of money (typical local rockstar... ) I'll just catch him when he's really broke... should be able to score it for $75CDN. |

It would have to be my EH-2 for about $35.00, which I've more than offset by stupidly bidding like a drunken sailor on others (looks towards floor at $160.00 PQ-4 ).
I did repair two broken DD-2s, one I got for about $60.00 and the other about $70.00.
C.K.

Boss OD-1 silver screw for 10$ Back in the 80's. I still have it. I also brought a brand new Boss SP-1 for $39.95 and a SG-1 for $49.95. Methinks I could get more for them now! |

Probably my best deal was an early MIJ DD-3 (with wide chip) Mint in Box with all papers for £5 (around $9).

The guy who sold it said it was faulty because it kept making noises 'like a chainsaw' when he switched it on. Needless to say I bought it on the spot, got it home and realised that he'd just set the controls so it was self oscillating - nothing wrong with it at all! |

it had a bad power supply jack.

I hope my best deal is yet to come, in fact...
I got a MT-2 for 20€, a PW-2 for the same price. Both just needed some soldering job.
I got an "Octaver" OC-2 for 50€.
But my best deal is probably this one : I got 10 pedals, with 9 MIJ, all mint, including a DM-3, a DC-3, a VB-2, for 700€, which makes 70€ each. Quite good. |

I was given a fz3 brand new last year by the drummer in the band it had been in the bottom of his wardrobe...and i found a mij ds1 in the singers shed gathering dust..!! both now residing on my pedalboard beside my od2 both of my bandmates dabbled in the past the singer gave away a marshall halfstack...!!!!(year unknown but old)and the 2x12 cab(its an old vox pa cab) i use now i found in the drummers shed i bought two brand new celestion vintage 30's for it and when we took the back off i found two original greenbacks in it..!!!!! so if you know any guitar players who have stopped playing (especially if the are in their mid 30's....!!!)check their sheds, attics, under stairs..etc you never know what you will find.....and before you buy speakers take the back off the cab first..!! ..... |
