Thanks! I was bargaining with the guy for a MIT DS-1 (DIY Keeley Mod here I come!), which I got for $15, and then he offered to throw the MIJ BF-2 in for an additional $10.

I also have a MIT BF-2 and a MIJ Silver screw long-dash DS-1... Hopefully some time this week I'll be able to put these pedals together and compare the two.
I have a SS MIJ BF-2 that I like a lot, I also had a late MIT BF-2 at the same time for a short period. To my ears, if I remember right, the MIJ sounded less hard and metallic. The reason for this could be that the ageing of the components have made them sound sweeter, or that there are components of different quality in the pedals. Some time ago someone wrote a topic here at the forum that there were better capacitors in the SS pedals.
