I'm looking for some cheap multi effects box to practice with at home. I am looking into the Micro BR and the digitech RP100A box. I would like your opinions or if you have any other suggestions I'd be happy to hear them (Unless their over $200!)

Hi Big Man and welcome to the forum.

I'm not sure if the Micro BR is what you are looking for. I think it's a mini recording unit rather than an a multi-effects unit. Check out the roland/boss site to check if this is what you really want.

Hey

Thanks a lot for the help. I can see where you're coming from and I probably phrased the question the wrong way. I would want to use it to jam with at home so I could record licks when i thought of them and the built-in drum machine and the likes. The effects weren't really what I was looking for.

You should also check out a loop station or pedal in that case. I have a RC-2 and it has 11 channels and a drum track. Great for laying for some backing stuff and then jamming to! Probably a bit hard to record from than a Micro BR but lots of fun.

Good luck!

For jamming I much prefer the DR-880 (drum machine), JS-5 (Jam station) or the Tascam CD trainer thingy. For quick'n'dirty recording the BR-Micro is great but the drum machine is a bit limited and the built in guitar amp simulators aren't as good as the Boss GT series. For the price it gives you a lot though.

I kinda like the BR effects. I'm sure their not meant to be lush, only something to use on the go when you want to break out the guit-fiddle for a quick tune & you have a song idea in your head.
