Hello everyone

I have had a Boss BF2 flanger in my collection for a few years now and have never paid much attention to it's origin. Lately I decided to clean up all my pedals and noticed that it looked pretty old. So I looked further into it and it turns out it is an original first era pedal.
Black label, made in Japan, metal coin screw...and....it is the 400'th pedal made by Boss! The serial number 400 is stamped/embossed under the pedal lid above the switch.
I found this quite interesting, thought I'd share it with everyone.

It's an early pedal but it probably isn't the 400th pedal. The early serial numbers were not real serial numbers but instead batch numbers. It is not known how many pedals there were in a batch. When they reached serial 9900, they usually rolled back to serial 0000 again (In some cases they used 5 digit numbers instead). When a new pedal was made they didn't necessarily start on serial 0000 either and in the case of the BF-2 I don't know what the first batch was.

My own BF-2 has serial 9700. Either it is 93 batches behind yours or it is 7 batches earlier. The BF-2 is one of the models where they used 5 digit serials but that could be because they'd already used up all 4 digit numbers and couldn't roll over again.
