Hello, first post (I think), and I'd like to say what a nice forum you've all got here.
I've done a bit of searching for something that can go wrong with the DD3 on this forum, but I guess I suck as searching as I didn't quite find anything.
I opened up the pedal and had a peek around and didn't see and loose or broken wires. I did see that the output jack only has one wire going from it, not sure if that is normal, but maybe the jack is just grounded by the enclosure? I'm not too fond with Boss pedals so I don't know how they do it. The LED doesn't light with just a battery (measured it and it is a good battery), but it does light when I hook it up to a 1spot. No sound passing w/ battery or adapter, in bypass or on.
Is there anywhere to start debugging this thing? I'd like to get it up and working. It's made in Taiwan version.
Also, what on earth is this?
I think it could be my favorite emote ever.
Thanks |

Hi mth5044
Welcome to the forum from Australia.
What happened to the DD-3 before it stopped working, Maybe reversed voltage on the power supply?
That is our Banana riding on a Llama, & showing the Horns sign.

Hey, thanks for the responces. Sorry it took me so long to reply, I got caught up in the holiday rubish.
Zerksies - I got a camera as a christmas present, so once I get it up and running, I'll take some snapshots of the guts.
DeFrag - thanks for the welcome
Dr. Bob - I was playing with the feedback knob when it cut out. It made a sound like unplugging your guitar with the amp still on. I haven't tried the direct out, but the regular out has zero output (or atleast very very quite output, as I don't hear anything but I don't have my amp cranked for fear of going deaf). Oh, and nice avatar.. I love vegemite
I looked again and I don't see any caps that are blown or loose wires, but I'll take some pictures if I can get my camera working.
I hope that helps anyone out who is looking at the thread. Thanks in advance for any help.
Take care, Matthew |

Yes please - I now have some experience with the current DD-3 as I've just repaired mine. But we need pics to get us started... |

Sheesh, sorry this took so long. I see there are several other DD3's on the main page now too. Must be a popular breaker
Anyway, not sure what pictures you all need, so I took a few.

I hope this helps out. Sorry for a few of the blurry ones. Any other test ideas that I could try out to help isolate the problem would be great!
Thanks for your help. I appreciate it. |

Sorry dude missed this post...
What usually happens to cause power on adapter but not on battery is reverse voltage which burns out the battery switch in the 9V jack.
Is there sound out of the direct out? (the direct out only has a transistor buffer which is pretty hardy - if that works it will tell us something)
Do you have a meter? Can you check the resistance between the positive terminal on the 9V jack and the pedal case?

Thanks for the responce. The direct out does indeed work.
I do have a multimeter.
I don't have my dedicated power supply with me, but I do have my keyboard power supply (9v.. 1.2amps!) so maybe ill have to see if that has the right barrel if I need to fire it up again with the power supply instead of a battery. |

| I check the + terminal w/enclosure with the multimeter and I am getting 0.7 ohms... I checked it with a battery, a power supply and nothing. Checked both times with a plug in the input jack. What is that supposed to mean? |

Hello,
My second post.
I had the same problem with my DD-3 - My DD-3 just stopped working. Had the LED on when active but no sound through the output. Direct out worked but effect out - no go - in either active or bypass. - 3 1/2 yrs. old and still under warranty so I sent it in. I received a call last Monday (2-23-09) to OK the repairs and pay for labor and shipping.
I have the schematic so when the pedal is returned, I will be more than happy to pop the case, check what was changed/resoldered and pass this along. |

| Sorry - it is the discrete version - very similar to the DD-2. |
