What exactly does the bassmurf do?

Thanks h&w and natthu,

The Bass Murf also has an LFO (low frequency oscillator) that is controllable with an expression pedal. It can give me that dubstep D'n'B wobble. It has a tap tempo input that controls the rate. It's CV controlled so it can be synced up with a click track or a drum track.

It's a beast of a pedal and sounds awesome with fuzz and octave (and my other effects really). The bypass buffer leaves a little to be desired. There are folks out there that can do a TBP mod on these. I'd like to have a tap tempo built in as well as a toggle to switch between the on off and through the input. Wishful thinking perhaps.

the Midi MuRF is really expressive and gives you a lot of control. I picked up my Bass MuRF off of the Talkbass classifieds and got a really good deal on it,...otherwise I would have gotten the Midi MuRF.

This is my modest set up (the POG being the most recent addition), but it allows me to do pretty much everything I need to-

Hey Warwick! It's sad that you dumped the pedal tote because I got some ideas from your settings to arrange my pedals, given that I have it also.

Don't pedaltrains usually have bars with gaps between them? It looks like yours is all full of velcro carpet or something. Nice setup BTW!

If you look carefully you can see the gaps, Mansun. The dark background makes it look full.
(I hope Warwick.hoy doesn't mind that I respond.)

Thanks Dirk.

Mansun,...The pedal tote was really a great starter pedal board but as my pedals needs grew so to did my need for a bigger pedalboard. I did manage to squeeze 8 pedals including a volume pedal on that thing. I could have done without that back riser though. Something like that is handy if you play to a rowdy crowd on no stage and want to protect your pedals that have top mounted jack, but the kids in this town are pretty lazy. Usually they just stand there with their arms crossed judging you.

I really like the slatted option on the PT to route cables and I don't think it will be an issue trying to squeeze a samll tap tempo switch on there, which is the last piece of the puzzle for this particular incarnation.

@Joske,...no worries man. Kind of a dark pic. I'm having trouble finding descent lighting in my apartment.

Finally I managed to get some pics of my pedalboards, so here you go:

1. my standard board which I use for Rock'n'Roll and oldie stuff:

2. my acoustic board, the LS-2 is just for 3 different volume levels.

3. my (ever changing due to GAS) home/practice board

4. my my (rather snobbish I admit) all Japanese collectors board. Please note the angled plugs and the angled daisy chain. Without them the CC-6 board is not usable, normal plugs will not fit!

I went back and looked at some old contributions to a pedalbard evolution thread over on the talkbass forums. I've been through 15 incarnations of a pedalboard not including some brief detours into stomp boxes in my formative years. I had at one time or another a GEB-7 (the poopoo brown one) a DS-1 an Ibanez TS-9 and a Zoom 506.

At the risk of being self indulgent and in the interest of saving bandwidth over here; the following is a link to an updated PB evolution post.

This is the entire thread if you so desire.

Some of you people part with your pedals so easily... I couldn't even try to sell my crappy Zoom 505-II!! Nice evolution, Warwick.

Ok, why not? Merry-christmas-solstice-new year etc.

I started in early Nov and got this done about the middle of December.
Was a fun project. I even did my own cables. I plan to do a write-up about building the board with a few more pictures and maybe video. But I'm a procrastinator (hence why the board took over a month to make).

I know these pictures suck. My video camera fails at taking stills.

Bass/8-string/Guitar > Tuner > FW-3 wah > CS-3 > MD-2 > PS-5 > Behr TP300 (PN-2 knockoff)> PH-2 > DOD FX75B(flanger) > RE-20 > RV-3 |

Expression > PS-5 (shown) or RE-20
The gap next to the PH-2 is for a footswitch I plan to add for the wah.

And all lit up:

Hey alice, gotta love the RV-3/RE-20 combo. How do you use yours?

I have my RV-3 on all the time, I have the mode on 11 I think. And the RE-20 I have on mode 5 I think it is. Its at 3 o'clock for a great delay. Its really unique.

Hi, Paisleyfender, is that PB an ARION one? I searched the word "Monacor" and PSB-06 but it showed some pictures of an ARION briefcase like yours. Did you buy them separately (case + power supply) or did they come together? Do they still produce them?

Hi Mansun!
The Monacor PSB-06 is exactly the same as the Arion one I believe.
I don't think they are produced anymore.
These boards came with an integrated power supply, and luckily the BOSS and Ibanez effects are just small enough to fit in, because I think the board was primarily made for the smaller Arion effects (which don't have a thumb screw of course!).
A funny thing is that the velcro at the bottom is the one with the loops, so you have to stick the plush velcro to the bottom of your effects, which seems to be the opposite way than in most other boards.
These boards are hard to find nowadays, this one I got on eBay without any foam in the lid, and the power cable was broken.
The foam I got from a shipping box, and the power cable from an old broken tapedeck

That's pretty much what I do with the RV-3. Setting 10 or (sometimes 11) for the big, spacious reverb that the RE-20 can't do. RV-3 is still one of my all-time favorite pedals. Its reverb still holds up compared to an RV-5 or even my Quadraverb. And plus I still like using the 4 middle (Delay+Reverb) settings for when I want to get that crazy dual delay combo with the RE-20.

As for the RE-20, I don't really have a favorite setting. It's such an awesome pedal, every day is a new adventure with that thing. I try to flip around the dial on it a lot. I think I set it for "long delay" mode the day I got it and never looked back.
