Today I got a new DD-7 and I am very pleased with it. However, I have a small problem I guess you could call it....
My amp is a Roland Cube 30X and my guitar is a James Tyler Mongoose Retro. I only use a Boss Super Chorus and the DD-7 on my pedalboard and I use the Metal Stack channel on the Cube with the distortion set to about 3 o'clock. When I play with delay on the clean channel, everything sounds great. However, when I use the Metal Stack channel the delay level is too high. If I back the delay level off so it is just right for distortion, I can barely hear it on the clean channel.
Would anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get an even delay signal?
I am using a OneSpot adapter and I use Planet Waves connectors between the pedals and Evidence Audio cables between the guitar and the first pedal and the last pedal and amp. |

| i'm not well versed enough with the roland cube to know if it has an effects loop or not, but i'm guessing putting the pedals on a loop would help that problem at least a little. |

Grats on the DD-7!
Zentropa nails it with an FX loop. It can certainly help modulation & delay pedals to sound much better. Unfortunately, the Roland Cube 30X has no such loop.
For an amp with an FX loop, its important to know if its a serial or parallel loop. I think you'd hope for a serial loop with a send level. But this is a bit beyond the scope & my experience. |

| Thanks for the suggestions guys. I guess that I'll have to find a happy medium where I can get the pedal sounding good with both distortion and clean! I think some people actually use two. Actually, I use distortion most of the time so perhaps I should figure out a good setting on the DD-7 for use with dirt. :D |

Another thing you could do is to run the amp clean and spring for a good distortion pedal..i think boss make one or two..... my amps are too old and don't have loops so this is what i do,i find it keeps the signal and sound quality much better,i use two DD-3'S on my board for a lot of stuff we do...... |

| because you are putting the distortion BEHIND the delay in the chain, everything the delay puts out is compressed and magnified because of the distortion. that's why you have to turn the delay down so much. answer: fx loop, or buy a distortion pedal to put in front of the delay. then the clean/dirty will be exactly the same. of course im just repeating everyone else. |

Distortion is generally better if it's pre-delay.
Modulations (chorus etc..) work just as good pre or post distortion.
I generally favor any time based stuff (modulations/delays/reverbs) to be after my distortion. Either in a serial (not parallel) FX loop of a dirty amp, or after a distortion box into a clean amp. Oh, and Chorus/delay/reverb sounds much better in stereo rather than mono. |
