I've had an old Boss DM-2 Analog Delay for quite a few years now. After awhile the original ACA-120 adapter stopped working so I bought a new one, an ACA-120G. I did notice a difference in sound and performance between the two adapters. Well, recently my ACA-120G has stopped working as well. My DM-2 doesn't work with the 1 Spot or the like and the DM-2 is the only pedal I use so I can't do the daisy chain thing. So I need a power supply for my pedal, preferably one that performs like the original ACA-120 that the DM-2 was designed to use. Any suggestions?
I'm sure that the DM-2's were powered by the ACA 12VDC unregulated power supplies.
The Later ACA-120G's were rated at 9VDC not 12VDC, so I'm not surprised that your could hear the differences.
You can do a simple mod to your DM-2, that will make it work with the newer 9VDC regulated supplies. You just jumper out a resistor & diode on the PCB.
Or you can use this simpler "second pedal daisy chain method". Read the: Powering ACA pedals with a PSA power supply: http://www.bossarea.com/other/aca.asp
Thanks for the reply Dr. Bob. The daisy chain method is not ideal for me since the DM-2 is my only pedal. Luckily one of my local guitar shops had a couple old ACA-120's that I just picked up. These should last for awhile. Once they burn out I guess I'll have to look into the jumper mod.
