FWIW, Boss/Roland recently sent an entirely new pedal demo display (one side for compact pedals, one side for twin pedals, etc., and each side with a small Roland amp built into the bottom) to my local Guitar Center. the RC-2 and ML-2 are on there, as well as the Fender pedals, but the FZ-5 and the DN-2 are conspicuously absent. (actually, they had one of each marked 'clearance' in a different case, presumably demo models.) I think the OD-3 and DS-2 were likewise gone.
does this mean the FZ-5 and DN-2 will be even shorter-lived than the PW-2 and the XT-2? |

| this weekend, I also noticed that Boss' bass pedals (bass eq, bass chorus, bass overdrive, etc.) were nowhere to be found in the pedal demo display, although they still had a stack of them behind the counter. I can appreciate that Boss might want a new pedal display for the Christmas shopping season, but they're not likely to sell any pedals if a demo unit isn't readily available.... |

I have only tried the Dyna drive and was not impressed at all I have bought an RC-2 and I haven't regretted it yet The RC-2 rules. Live I use it to trigger samples and the looping I use for practise/writing purposes. |

Hi Some Weird Sin
How easy is it to use live? I have been thinking of incorporating the RC-2, into my Solo Acoustic shows. But I have been a little reluctant, as no-one I know has one, to try out. And it's nearly $300au out here in Oz. An expensive pedal just to for an experiment...
I guess your using the remote pedal as well on it? What are some of the faults or problems, that you may have encountered?

Hi Dr. Bob,
I actually bought it from someone who bought it as an experiment and didn't like it, so there you go.
As I said, in live situations, so far, I have only used it for pre-reorded samples and loops, and yes I do use a remote switch to stop, because "double clicking" the pedal is kinda hard in a playing situation. I'm in a three piece band and it's cool to add some additional sounds now and then.
As far as faults and so on. I find it difficult to use it as a looper in a live situation, but this may also have to do with my looping inexperience. Anyway, what might be a difficulty is that you can only undo the last recorded phrase and you have to depress the pedal for a few seconds to do that, so it's very hard to time it. Also it's the kind of pedal that you relly need the manual for. They have put all this technology and possibilities into one compact pedal, it is bound to be less easy to use than the RC 20 or that bigger one I forget
Hope this helps,
Some Weird Sin |
