| I thought MZ was James Hetfield's field of tone. |

| Ive owned my mz-2 for a few years now and its great for metallica tone (particularly ..And justice for all) and a lot of 80's rock (tears for fears for example) and 80's/90's alternative (My Bloody Valentine, The Cure). And to answer your question, yes it is great for Dave Gilmour tone, he actually uses one so you're pretty much half way there. |

this question has come up before.. i think gilmour only used it mid 80's you can hear it on his solo album and on the post roger waters pink floyd stuff,as far as i know he is a big fan of pete cornish stuff and gets pete to build most of his stuff now...i think his new pedalboard is mostly valve based especially the distortion/overdrives... big muffs and tube drivers were also used by gilmour a good bit.... |

thanks to the replys. just a further question to tomwest. how close to an "And Justice For All" tone are we talking? that album has such a ripping sound, and if the MZ-2 can get me there tonally, ill buy 2! |

Well one particularly, it is immense for the lead and rythm parts, the shortest straw it does pretty well to, if you take the effects off. It can do a pretty good rendition of enter sandman, and its really cool to mess around with, it gets a couple of tones for specific metallica songs down to a tee, however as a whole its a great pedal for metallica esque tone. Its also really really cool in conjunction with a chorus pedal, especially if you set the effect to doubling or chorus. Another style it nails is Killing Joke, particularly the Night Time album. I may be interested in selling/trading mine if the price is right |

well, i picked one of these babies up a few days ago, (along with another EH2 heh heh), and again, it is totally not what i expected. i am not saying that it is bad, just different. i dont find the distortion to be Metallica-like at all. i actually find it to be a very average sounding distortion. the chorus and delay(more reverb)are also average. the reason i like it is because it works so well with other pedals.another great thing about this pedal, is that its great to play live with, because it is like having 3 pedals in 1, therefore less gear to drag around. 8/10 |
