let me get this straight. the max amount of time you can sample is 800 ms?? isnt that enough time for like one quick slapback noise? am i wrong or is this kinda pointless.

Pointless sounds very descriptive to me. The whole sampling thing in the DSD-2/3 is completely useless so it's really a mono version of the DD-3.

The DSD-4 ehhh... I mean RC-2 promises much more sampling time so this time it should actually work

DSD-2 can self oscillate. The sample function has a trigger input you can use with a drum machine. You can do drone sounds and other rhythmic stuff with the samples. It's no RC-50 but, remember now 800 ms of sample time was an eternity in 1986
