Here on this PS-2 :
http://cgi.ebay.fr/BOSS-PS-2-Pitch-Shifter-Delay-Pedal-MADE-in-JAPAN_W0QQitemZ320008589022QQihZ011QQcategoryZ41420QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The serial n# tells us 1990, but didn't production moved to taiwan in 1987 ?

I understand a whole factory can't move in one day, of course. But there is 3 years, there.

I'm afraid I'm again asking for your knowledge...

It's probably genuine. The production of the digital pedals like the PS-2, DC-3 and DD-3 were the last to move. I have yet to see a MIT DC-3 but Boss says they made it up until 1993. If that's the case there may have been Japanese production 6 years after they started moving the factory.

this is odd. i checked all of my MIJs and the only one past 1987 was a GE-7 made in September 1988.

I've seen this on one other occasion. The dates given by Boss are sales dates so it's natural that they started making them a month or two earlier.

What's the serial number and label colour of your HM-3? I'm trying to map the key dates and yours is probably one of the earliest HM-3s.

I thought so too but I recently came across two auctions for red label MIT PSM-5s so it looks like production moved to Taiwan after all.

Yes, there definitely are red MIJ labels. I had one but sold it a few months ago.
