Your opinions on which is the best Boss manufactured delay-pedal ever? My choice is DD-20 if I have to choose just one. But its hard to live without DM-2 for slap-back. But to my ears DD-20 sounds very, very good to be a digital delay, you can even get it to sound nearly as good as DM-2 on the analog-setting. The 4 memories makes it very useful too. |

Great topic!
Love the DD-20 more and more. Jamming with it yesterday. Reverse mode, e. level all the way up, the best reverse I've heard so far. Also, the dual and panning modes are awesome set short (like 200-300) to get that twin lead axes playing dual riffs sound
The DD-6 hold mode is also very cool for practicing lead over a short riff.
Kinda sweet on the RV-3 also. The combo of reverb and delay is very warm, and very flexible.
Have a couple of RV-2's and just picked up a DM-3, need to play with these more, to get a good read.
And finally, the DD-5 is kinda special too. Lacks the versatality of the DD-6, but the sound is different (warmer?) and these are very popular with the pros.

| I think the DM-2 is the finest delay ever made, by Boss or anyone. It sounds like an Echoplex from daze gone by. Very smooth and quiet. Think Dave Gilmour. |

i rarely use the dm2 setting on the giga delay. It sounds too dark for me and muddy. If that is what the dm2 sounds like then ill skip it.Unless its a very good deal |

The DM-2 is a fantastic pedal alrite, and it's my favourite boss delay!
The DD-2 is brilliant too, ceratianly the closest you'll get to a DM-2 with a digital delay. More recently tho I discovered the RV-3. A different kind of delay, crystal clear as opposed to the darker repeats of the DD-2/DM-2. It also trails off when you turn it off, which I think is great, especially for playing live.
Best Boss delay? I think it really does depend on the music you play. If you're into edge/u2 type delay, DD-5 is your best bet. For me, I'm after the Gilmour/Pink Floyd sound so I can't be without my DM-2 & DD-2. |

Is there any way I can get my DD6 to do the trail off delay thing. Maybe another pedal I can hook up to it?

dm-2, can you comment on how a DD-3 compares to a DD-2 (or a DM-2)? I've been looking for a DM-2 or DM-3, but haven't found one I can afford yet.
in theory, the delay function of those mid-'80 Boss pedals with digital delay (DD-2, DD-3, PS-2, DSD-2, DSD-3) should sound about equally good. |

Jilty, as far as i know, you can't get the trail off with the DD-5 or DD-6 but I'm sure there's a mod out there that could do it, Andreas, I'm looking in ur direction!
Pawnshop, the original DD-3 is identical to the DD-2 but as was discussed in an earlier topic, somewhere along the way they replaced a major component of the circuit board and made it sound more like the DD-5. I think we came to the conclusion that all MIJ DD-3 pedals were the old chip, therefore same as DD-2.
In comparison with the DM-2, you can get very close but you don't have that bucket brigade sound unique to analogue delays. To be honest tho, if you can only afford to buy one, the extra money you'd have to pay for the DM-2 is not worth it. So if both my DD-2 and DM-2 were stolen tomorrow, I'd go out and buy another DD-2/MIJ DD-3. You also have more control and longer delay times with the DD-2/DD-3. |

| I'm in love with my MIJ DD-2, and DD-3. My DD-3 is the repackaged version of my DD-2, and they sound nearly identical to eachother. |

| The Roland US site lies about the delay time of the DD-20 being the longest delay time of any pedal. They probably don't realize it, but the Electro-Harmonix 16-Second Delay has a misleading name because the maximum delay is actually 4 minutes (they probably should not have been aiming at the vintage market on that one). That blows the pants off of the DD-20's 23 seconds. Considering that the 16-Second Delay has more RAM in it, it's actually a much better value compared to the DD-20. The only problem is that you have to buy the external footswitch control panel to make much use of it. |

I favour the DD-3 when clean while I prefer the DM-2 with distortion.
Haven't tried the DD-20 though. Actually I'm a bit short on delays. I only have 3 of the 8 available Boss stompers. |

Bossarea. Try running your DD=3 through your effects loop ( if you have one) I think you'll be plesently supprised at the sound. |
