Hi Goran Thanks for the link.
Franzoni: This is going to be an extra special Link for you. If you scroll down a bit, you will be the most comprehensive site I have seen on the SELMAR.
There are some schematics for amps & 2 of their effects. There is a write up from the main production manager, well as pictures of their various amps - even some old magazine adverts, and some of their pedals.
I couldn't for the life of me remember which Semer amp you have. While I was checking the available schematics & pictures.
Regards Dr. Bob

Great Dr Bob, you found more than me I have a Hofner Verythin, nice to look at but not a really good playing guitar. Many Europeans struggled with Hofners in their youth during the 60s including George Harrison, and yours truly.

Hi Dr Bob and all
http://www.vintagehofner.co.uk/selmer/amps/sel45.html
same as mine except a previous owner stripped all the tolex off my one otherwise the same even down to the original speaker... from 2nd edition of the stadium from selmers 62/63 era....
selmers sales pitch.." a thumping 14 watts with tremolo for the boys in the big time.."....
The Beatles and the Shadows used them (stadium model) up till they went to Vox..nice amp to crank up for blues, not really an amp for pedals unless your using something simple like a booster to fatten up the sound a bit, there is a fair bit of 'sag' when shes cranked up probably down to the tube rectifer in her...she has 9 tubes/valves in total,as the tremolo is tube driven as well, very subtle tremolo nice and warm and sounds great with slide, thats two more than my 100 watt marshall head and 4 more than the 130 watt musicman...all for a little amp rated at 14 watts....... |

Hi, I've got a 60's hofner president (late uncles) which I would love to restore to it's former glory. I've got the pickguard and the bridge so far but I cannot set the bridge to a level without the action being really high and the E strings barely being on the fretboard.
I have come to the conclusion that the bridge is wrong as it has positions for each string rather than a continuous whit plate. Am I right? If so where can I get the right one from?
Many thanks. Regards Patrick |
