Looking at a black one (not green) locally. What do you think of the sound?

pretty classic for the sludgy fuzz sound.

i used to use a green one when my main amp was a twin reverb.

Up until last week, I had a black russian muff. I also have a great sounding late '70's muff. In comparing the two, the black russian had more mids, black russian had much more treble orientation than the vintage with both knobs at unity, but the russian seemed to have a more broad tone sweep. The russian has a breakup that is somewhat more on the distortion side than the classic bassy bubbling molten lava-ish sound of the vintage one, but the russian still sounds the way a muff should sound. Pumpkins Cherub Rock can be dialed in.

I have one of the russian black big muff's. tis an awesome pedal, although when i was trying to put in a 9volt plug i "did" something to it. what i did im not quite sure, but it sounds different, better.

anywho! i can get a hendrix sound, pink floyd and a zed lep 1 tone too. its a really great pedal for the price, just dont forget ot unplug you cables when youre done with it!

i agree with indytone, they sound killer on bass.

one of the longest runnig pedals on my board. Great stuff.

Sounds great with a boost...I use a BD-2 with it or a Micro Amp. Dyna Comps sound killer with it for that Floyd tone.
