Vintage analogue delays usually have a price tag that looks like a telephone number attached to them somewhere........ .....i'm no expert but i think what a lot of the guys do is get a ballpark idea by the make of some of the components on the circuit board sometimes these have a manufacturing date to give you a rough idea..or possibly check in around the battery compartment for any labels or stickers.....well done on the AD-9..did you get it cheap..?? supposed to be a good alternative to the DM series analog delays... |

it is in great shape.
Appears to be made by maxon for Ibanez/ The board says maxon, the battery clip, and some of the casing is engraved maxon. I wonder what year it is? When did they stop ,aking the ad0s the first time around.
It sounds fantastic, Got it fir $75 Still waiting for a dm-2 or 3 to cross my path some how... |

As far as i know maxon don't make pedals for ibanez anymore, they have their own range of reissues out but originally they were the people who made all the clasic tubescreamers etc...for ibanez......sounds like an original to me....as to the year, like i said try to see if there is a date on one of the chips on the board or if you post the type of chip maybe Laurie or Dr Bob etc might be able to help you.... you got it for a great price.... .... |

Hi Gizzorge
First of all - Congratulations - Great find & an even better price. The reissues sell for approx $289au
What is the serial number of your AD9? My friend Justin, has one (from the 80's) & he knows how to decode the S/N to a date.
Here are some pics of his AD9, that he kindly donated, for our "Pedal Internals" thread. http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4147&whichpage=6
BTW, you might notice, that it looks very similar to a Boss DM-2.

hi,
quote: the Serial # is 211048
made in 1982
IMHO it appears to be an original
you can check your battery clip, grey on original, black on reissue

Hi Gizzorge, fabs & Guys
fabs is correct quote: made in 1982
I caught up with my friend Justin today, & he confirmed that: Serial # 211048 = 1982
He told me that the: First number of the serial = the last number of the year in the 80's, as in 211048 = 1982
He mentioned that just last week, he sold his 1983 AD9, for $250au BIN, & it sold in lass that an hour.
Regards Dr. Bob

| Wow thanks for the info. Seems to be a legit 82 then. So when did they start making them? |
