Thanks a lot for the advice and kind words franzoni

I won't be getting zapped, ill be giving them to my uncle tomorrow to have a look. He said by the sounds of it he will be able to get at least one up and going.

Ill be happy with that!!

By the way, when turning on a tube amp, is it best to put it on stand by 1st, to warm it up?

Yep im a tube amp n00b. Haha

Hi hateandwar
Yes 100% correct.
Always warm up the heaters in the tubes in standby,
before flipping the switch.
The standby switch turns off the high Voltage to the "Plates-Anodes" of the tubes.

Else you will suffer from what is known as "Cathode Stripping".
And greatly reduce the life span of your expensive tubes.
The high power Output tube are most susceptible to this problem.

Ask you Uncle to spend some time explaining the ins & outs,
and the basics for tubes & tube amps.

I allow an absolute minimum of 2 minutes before I switch the standby over.
Some players are much more impatient.
When & if I can, I will let the amp warm up for 5-10 minutes, or even longer.
While I do something else setting up.

Good luck at your Uncles place with the Amps.
See I still haven't called you any names...
You should consider yourself "Very Very Lucky".

Regards Dr. Bob

This is what i do also...i set up my amp and the rack/backline and leave the marshall on standby then go set up the pedalboard, tune the guitars etc...before turning the amp on to play so it could be in standby for 10/15 mins before the soundcheck...

Those amps are gorgeous. I need to make friends with generous people who have random equipment laying around.

Got a call from my uncle today. He's got the 75 watter working. He discovered its actually a 50 watter.
Also the tremelo its fully working, which is a plus.

The 100 watter on the other hand will need a bit more work, and will take awile. So for now, were just concentrating on getting the 50 working.

His words were: "these things are built like a brick sh** house!

So all round, im happy!
Can't wait to pick it up, then go get the marshall cab.
Won't be for awhile though.
Ill keep you all posted. Cheers.

P.S maybe I will do a vid when its up and running?

Just letting everyone know, i have the 50watt head back in my hands.
Before i took it home, we plugged it in to his Marshall 1960a cab
This thing sounds soooooo good! Especially the tremolo.
Pretty good for a 36 year head i must say.
And is it loud?
YES!
We made it shake his lounge room to pieces! (almost)
So i have it at home, i dont have the cab im going to buy yet.
Im just running it though a 1x12 speaker that my uncle rigged up for me untill i get the cab.
I was sure to buy him some well earned
When i eventually get the cab i will be sure to do a vid

All I can say is...Awsome!!! Bringing treasured classics like these back to life is keeping the past in the present. That's the way they were built! Now you have to pay a small fortune to enjoy handcrafted quality. They'll most likely last forever!

Hi hateanwar

I'm glad it's all good news about your Eminar head/s.

OK I have to ask you this question.

In the subject line of your post you wrote:
I scored two free Eminar Valve heads. For free

Was it a simple typo?
Or did you really mean that the 2 free Eminar heads,
belonged to the band "Free"?
