For whatever reason I wasn't much of a pedal user (outside of my DM-2) and put away my pedals many years ago shortly after buying them. Then I stopped playing altogether for many years.
I started again but used no pedals until I discovered a song I liked had a phaser. So I dragged out the box in the attic found the PH-1r and plugged her in. Worked like a charm on that song. Unfortunately I stuck the pedal in my cable case and have carted it around even though it wasn't getting used on stage (doh!). Some paint has chipped off due to getting knocked around in the case. Not that this meant much of anything to me, other than being bummed because I'm usually anal about taking care of stuff. Then I discover that some older Boss pedal are "valued" and/ or "valueable" (which is it?)
So my question is what to do. I have a CE-2 (sat in the box unused), a BF-2 same deal, the PH-1r mentioned above and my DM-2. I plan on using the DM-2 as it saw some use and while still in good shape it's not in as good a shape as the others. And I like it's sound!
Should I put the others away again considering they are still in new condition (boxes and manuals too)? What are they worth?
Thanks all! ps (They are all black screw MIJ pedals. Pretty sure I still have the original receipts from when I bought them too!)

Hi blueswah! Let me be the first to say welcome to the forum , and also to say - I want that PH-1r!
I'm fairly new to the forum myself, but I do know the CE-2 and PH-1r are considered "preferred" models, at least. The BF-2 also seems to be a preferred model (or the HF-2, depending on what you like) but I don't think it's as sought-after as the other two.
If you go to the home page there is a menu down the left side and under "general information" you will find a serial number decoder. This will help you date your pedals (if you don't find the receipts).
As far as value, I wouldn't be the best to say and find a lot of folks here are hesitant to say for one reason or another. If you do find out and are intreested in selling the ph-1r, please let me know.

Hi Blueswah welcome to the forum. If you track ebay for a few days you should get a pretty good idea of your pedals value, bear in mind that origonal boxes and manuals do increase value to collectors so try to find ones that include these to follow. But don't just keep them in their boxes, plug them in and enjoy them that's what they are for |

| Nice link DeFrag, but are they accounting for fees and shipping? Some of those prices seem a bit low to me. |

Hi all, Thanks for the welcome. I took some pics. BTW I also took pics of all the manuals/pages. I could have swore I saw a thread that had a list of manuals (none of these were listed). Are these manuals needed by others?

Excellent pics. It's rare to see these old pedals in such nice condition. Most manuals are already available from Roland/Boss. The manuals listed in the "manual downloads" thread are the ones that can't be downloaded from www.rolandus.com. |

| Wow, nice pedals.. particularly the CE-2 & BF-2. What happened to the stock Intensity knob on the DM-2? |

The knob on the DM-2 kept falling off, maybe a set screw problem. I just put on something I had kicking around. The condition is basically new on the CE-2 and BF-2 because they sat unsued in the attic for years. I just ran dry, guitar -> amp, most of the time. But at one time I used the delay quite abit. It's now back in use. I'm slowly finding effective ways to add/ use the others, especially the PH-1r. Lot of fun revisiting and getting reaquainted with these old friends. |

| hey blueswah. check the back of the good knob on your DM-2. there might be a tiny screw on the side of it. if so, you can re-attach your "loose" knob by tightening the screw to the pot shaft. |

Beautiful stuff, blueswah. I got myself a BF-2 and a CE-2, but nowhere near that mint (and, forgive me, I'm coveting that phaser )
Good to see pedals (and boxes) in such great shape! |
