yeah the Diablo is next on my wishlist.....

I do have the OD-1 and the old Bluesbreaker pedal though to carry me along in the meantime

I'll let you guys know what the pedal is like as soon as I spent some quality time with it and my microbaby.

it's a trade with one of the OKKO dealers...

I'll give him my Fulltone Soulbender (which I never use anyway since I'm just not a fuzz guy. I NEVER have the ability to play loud enough for a fuzz to really shine) and get this instead.

usual price is 209

oh and it's not here yet.... I'll be driving to Mnster tonight (1/2 hour drive from where I live) to make the swap....

the soulbender is indeed a GREAT fuzz. but fuzzes are not for me..... I never found practical use for them... they are fun to play around but I simply don't use them in songs. This beast however:

is killing ME..... awesome sound. clarity yet with so much oomph.... and versatile due to the switchable mid band.... and quite quiet for such a high gain monstrocity. more to come once I had more time playing with it.

this beast is flexible as hell.. tone wise...

it has TONS of output gain on tap if you need it and the EQ section is simply mind blowing.... no bad setting AT ALL. The pedal sounds more in your face then all my other pedals but can be set to a sort of "blanket style" as well if needed.

I just quickly compared it to the VOX Satchurator and the Marshall Shredmaster. The Satch is a one trick pony compared to this one, it sounds a bit more.. well tubey.. but is either too bright or too muffled (at least on my current amp setting) the Shredmaster is a little more versatile (compared to the Satch that is). The Dominator can sound like the Shredmaster but it's hard to pull this off the other way around at some settings of the Dominator.

The Dominator never sounds boomy even with the bass all the way up... yet it sounds fuller than the Shredmaster or the Satch in this setting. The low end is EXTREMLY tight and never woofy (if that's a word). The mid control has a threeway switch where you can choose the center frequency... (very cool - I call it quasiparametric) and the highs are never shrill.... and strangley not muffled but soft - when turned down

The Satch seems to have more gain (with the More switch engaged) but WAY less overall volume. The Shredmaster is way quieter as well, has less gain as well though.

only gripe so far is that the sound breaks off a little too abrupt for my taste (like the Marshall Guv'nor) if the gain is all the way down ....but starting from 9 o'clock there's a lovely crunch sound that slowly blends into high gain madness.... while always sounding great and never... well.. out of control.

I'll definitely be getting the Diablo next to cover my low gain overdrive needs.... I'm an OKKO fan now.

okay somebody interested in buying some distortion and overdrive stompers

I currently wanna get rid of

Marshall Shredmaster
VOX Satchurator
Marshall Jackhammer
BOSS OD-1
DOD Grunge

I'll post pics and stuff in the buy/sell section

I'll be keeping the old Bluesbreaker pedal and the Drivemaster since they are soooo minty...

Hi MullyFX

Congrats.
This sounds like a very versatile box.
I especially liked the tones on the second link.

You know I'm going to ask you for some internal pictures,
for our Pedal Internals thread.

Regards Dr. Bob

...man i've seen some heated discussions on gooping circuit boards...in my opinion 99% of circuits made by "boutique" companys are usually back-engineered from someone else's back-engineered circuit, and then changed to their spec.(kinda like the Fender-Marshall-Mesa progression)...and man these guys act as if they've discovered the cure for cancer or their back-engineered circuits are rocket science...just look at what an uproar the Harmonic Percolator has caused...hell Steve Albini is more famous for owning one than for the talent he has...gooping is usually used by companies to hide the fact that they've stolen someone else's idea(TS-808 anyone?)...but it's not the be all end all...there are ways of getting in there...if the goop allows the circuit to function it can be removed...blame Fulltone they really got the ball rolling

Hi Mully, I'm glad you bought the Okko Dominator pedal to my attention. After some research and YouTube Demo watching I bought one off evilBay...

I'm now eagerly awaiting it's arrival

well he claims to not have back engineered anything (and on his cocacomp he states that it is NOT like every other boutique compressor - a ROSS clone.)
but honestly I couldn't care less as long as it sounds good and looks good to boot and seems to be well built.

oh and natthu let us know what you think of it once it arrives...
