I've owned a PH-1 for a while and when I take it out to use it always has a sort of odd rubbery kind of fried electrics smell but it works fine.
Recently I landed another PH-1 (silver screw/boxed) and it smells exactly the same! This one works fine too. None of my other Boss pedals have this unique aroma.
Is this a common thing or is it just that my sense of smell is shot to pieces? Just curious to know if anyone else has noticed it.
Mine smells kinda smokey, maybes because its had so much use and seen a few smokey gigs by a previous owner(s).
Im gonna get my PH-1 checked over, as it has some volume dropoff and a slight stutter sometimes, but otherwise my favrouite phaser, not my best as my EVH Phase 90 is my best Phaser.
i hope it's not the smell of a capacitor on it's way out .... i got that horrible smell along with the hum on a dynacord rack unit i use a couple of gigs back.. lucky enough i was able to change it myself and it was an easy fix.........
I have recognise awesome smell in case of my DM-2! It is almsot mint from 1981 and was sleeping in box since that time! The smell of flux and old type soldering are really unforgottable and 'beautiful'
I have a bunch of pedals with that smell.. It's something I associate with collecting them. In particular, the PH-1 has that smell - it's very sou, but at the same time so sweet.
Holding a PH-1 in your hand makes any smell nice, I think!
