I recently got myself a CE-2 MIJ on ebay... and it does sound awesome.
Few things though: -The serial number 040600 doesn't register on the boss area serial number thing? Anyone have any idea of date? -The back says "Use a coin to open battery compartment lid when replacing battery." When it clearly has a black thumb screw......

6 digit serials starting with 00 to 04 are not handled by the decoder because I wasn't sure these existed when I wrote it. 04xx00 probably means that it's made March 1982. The decoder will say that 0400 decodes to March-82 while these probably were made a bit earlier.
The "use a coin" back plates was used up till around serial 13xx00.
It's one of the early ones but the design remained almost identical up until it was discontinued in the early 90s so I'm not sure it's any better than other CE-2s
