Hi DeFrag
You never actally mentioned which finger you did the home surgery on?
And are you a Right or left handed guitar player?

Just a little colloquialism.
Lefties are known as "Molly Dooker"s out here in Oz.
Just don't ask me about the history of that term.

And read haired people are sometimes called "Bluey"

Regard Dr. Bob

I'm a RH & compromised the side of my left index just under the middle joint.

Mollydooker - molly-dook, molly-dooker, molly-duke - Australian, singular noun - Left-handed person probably from obsolete slang "molly" effeminate man, from the female personal name "Molly," a pet name of "May" + "dook," variant of "duke" hand; compare earlier Australian "mauldy" left-handed, "molly-hander" left-hander : "backwards, the way Mollie went to church," or with 'backwards' omitted. She DIDN'T go; hence, 'reverse what has just been said!': Anglo-Irish wit: C20. : The "duker" component suggests fisticuffs. So molly + duker = backward puncher = one who hits with the "opposite" hand. Just a hypothesis, but plausible.

No offense to any of youse southpaws out there in Boss-world.

Did you know that on average 600 left-handed people die every year using items designed for right-handers? You know, just in case Jeapordy calls..

Well it's good to know, & see, that you still have a your sense of humor.
I guess that's why fictional Ned Flanders, opened his fictional, LEFTORIUM.

My Number 2 son is left handed in everything in his life,
except that he learned to play on a right Handed guitar.

He was that keen to learn, that the thought of a left handed guitar,
never crossed his mind.
He plays, wonderful classical guitar & when he breaks out the electric,
he plays high Tech stuff, like Satriani - Vai.
He is self taught,
& he reads as well.

Well I did teach him a bit, but the student surpassed the teacher.

Regards Dr. Bob
I'm now waiting for that Jeopardy call.

Isn't that just like it.. I taught my son a few chords, a few scales, & now he rips me to shreds. Of course I don't have every waking moment in my life to practice like he does what with work & all.

Ahh to be 16 again...

By the sound of your cut location it's probably just in the right spot to be painful doing barre chords, I've had one there.
Cuts are frustrating, I find cuts on the fingertips are the worst - definitely no string-bending for a while!

I've got a metal slide, a piece of chromed pipe from a music shop. Funnily enough I recently noticed it was exactly the same diameter as old bicycle seatposts (about 1"). I know where to get cheaper replacement stock now if I ever need it

Hehe, you nailed it on the head guirat. I couldn't cleanly barre today at all. Its a good thing I'm playin' around with 1st position open-chords!

I can't slide very well but have used a ballpoint pen a couple times. One object that doesn't lend itself very well to slide guitar is a wet sponge.. I don't know why I said that.

i'm a southpaw as well dr bob but i play right handed....guitar is the only thing i do righthanded, everything else i do is left sided even kicking a ball or playing golf(very rarely...franzoni's favourite hole is the 19th..)but your son is in good company...gary moore and mark knopfler are left handed players who play right handed.....my teacher was too lazy to change the strings around for me and (i know this is hard to believe)both my first two guitar teachers were from rural areas in ireland where there was deep suspicion of lefties..were supposed to be in cahoots with old nick....in fact one of my teachers in school many moons ago used to hit me across the knuckles with a steel ruler if she saw me doing anything left handed.... as a famous irish gangster once said when asked how he turned out the way he was...."its all down to the mad monks from the bog" and thats who taught me as well...superstitious loonies........

p.s.......sorry for going off topic with this, its just something i don't agree with.....

Hi FRANZONI
Sometimes it's good to get it off your chest.
I grew up in times, where people had similar beliefs superstitions & rituals.

Sadly some places still do.

A toast back to you FRANZONI ... But a Light or two
Just DON"T drink it with your left hand.........

Regards Dr. Bob
