since I have my SYB-5, I ask myself every day : "why such a price difference ?"

SYB-5 is far less expensive than SYB-3.

WHY ! I WANT TO KNOW WHY !

the chips are different, of course, but is it only that ?

maybe the SYB-3 chip is more expensive because it's an early Roland DSP system ?

the guy in my favorite music shop said to me : "I don't know, but maybe it's because there's an Autowah effect in the SYB-3"...

after 2 years of torture I need to know...

Well...i don't know why. I don't know enough about Bass gear. But...Don't you think a good idea to ask this to Roland?

I'VE GOT AN ANSWER, I NEVER IMAGINE I HAD AN ANSWER FROM ROLAND :

I phoned to ROLAND FRANCE (of course I'm french) and... I have a reply : the chip in the SYB-5 is less expensive because it's a chip used in others products, and the chip in the SYB-3 was made only for the SYB-3.

that's it : they made lots of chips -> lower cost -> SYB-5 cheaper.

and they also said that the SYB-3 is out... there are still some SYB-3 to sell, but it's the end of the production now...

Thanks, good info and great to get a confirmation that the SYB-3 has been discontinued too.
