Anybody have one of these?
I have had mine for a long time since a guy I jammed with went "Tweaker" and then to jail!
The pedal plays great when using an adapter, but the battery wires are boogered up.
I just thought about selling or trading it, but was curious what the inside looked like so I opened it.
Appears fine, except "D-4" is missing and where it was in the pcb looks like it got burned.
Like I said, the pedal works fine.
Does anybody know what "D-4" contributes to this thing?

Hi scrappy1

Yep - Dr. Bob has one.
I'll take a look & some pics if you want, when I get some time.

Just a quick guess about D4, it's probably a protection Diode of some kind.

Strange it still works with an adapter? is it jumpered/linked out with some link wire?

Love mine- on full tilt, it get that Sound off "American Woman"
The original one.
Believe me when I tell you, it loves Tele's. & single coils as well.

While I have it open - do you need to know anything else...

What sort of condition is your in? mine is very clean for a Series 10 Ibanez pedal.

Thanks "Dr. Bob",
Nothing appears to have been done to this other than D-4 is removed.
This thing is pretty ugly, but not enough to compete with the other ugly pedals in that other thread.
I will try to get pics of mine to compare to your pics.
Maybe something will stand out?
Thanks again!

Hi scrappy1

I pulled out all 8-00 screws & have it in bits on the lab Bench.

D4 is, or WAS in your case a 1N4002 or any of the 1N400x series, one amp rectifier diodes.
its used for reverse protection.
It's NOT a ZENER, I'm looking at mine right now.
It must have been given a rev. volts belt in the guts.
That's probably why the PCB is a bit charred.

To get it back to original, barre the burnt PCB.
Just get any (GP) general Purpose 1 amp rectifier diode, & replace it.

Does it look like any other bits were replaced after the original damage?

Do you need some pics, while it's all in bits?
(please answer asap, as I need the bench space for a Marshall Rack head repair, this long weekend).
And if you need the Schematic PM me.

Hi "Dr. Bob"!
Thank you very much.
No need for pics, but I appreciate the offer.
I have a bundle of 1N4002's so I will just replace it.
Thank you again!

Hi scrappy1

When yo replace the 1N4002.
sit it a few mm above the PCB, it case it shorts out again.

The Fat Cat Schematic is online, if you search for it,
else let me know if you want it, & can't locate it.

I have a suspicion, that there's a couple of small mistakes on it.
