hi bossarea. is it possible that you could make it so that a new account has to have something like 5 posts before they can have the option of starting a thread? might cut down on the "message" threads as they seem to be increasing. just thought it might help.

Thanks, that's a good suggestion. It would be easier to implement than some of the other options I was thinking about. Will look into that.

How about having to confirm your account through a link sent via email. Then youd have to use a valid email to open an account.

Cheers

That's a functionality that can be added but it is probably quite difficult. I would need to create the new account as disabled, set up some sort of confirmation page that would enable the account and send out e-mail to the new users.

I have enabled admin approval of new users now. I didn't know that the forum had that functionality but it should take care of the spam.

The feature isn't perfect as it assumes that e-mail can be sent out without authentication. Not so in my case so I will manually have to send the e-mail out to anyone who are approved. It's a little more work but it should be a lot less work that to clean up the spam 4 times a day.
