hello ,
you guys love boss pedals. you all rock. i have lots of em, and im about to recieve a od 1b in the mail.(14 pin rca chip) i already have a couple of stock jap ds1's which i really like, an od 3 which i now really like (removed d6 and d7)((that is a bloody good mod)), a ts9 (a reissue that i put a jrc4558d in)((a bit nasal)) and a modded ts10.(interesting). what im asking today is..how will the od -1b compare with these others? i have to wait a couple of weeks to find out for myself, but im curious as to what you guys think.

Congrats on your OD-1. The early ones are really hard to find. I've never heard the B version so I won't guess what it sounds like compared to the others you mention |

Seems that you love Tubescreamers seeing that you have a TS-9 and 10. The OD-1 will be close to that sound, it is great for "Marshall in a Box" sound.
I have done A/B tests with all the pedals you mentioned before, but it has been a while, and I get a bit tired of the A/B tests since I like all my pedals: Like Tubescreamers as well, but the OD-1 is a little bit different.
I know about the OD-1 with the large and small chip, and both of those are different, but the differences are small, just as the differences with the TS9 and TS808. The TS10 is more HiFi, but it sounds great. You can hear it all over Joe Satriani's "The Extremist" album, sure that he uses an unmodded TS10 as it sounds so similar to the sounds I get out of my Taiwanese!!! TS10 |
