Aah - I've been tempted to get one of these in the past, I liked DOD's Classic Tube when I owned one many years ago. The crappy footswitch always puts me off buying DODs, though. |

+1 on the DOD Classic Fuzz. Don't be a gear snob and not consider this one because of the brand. ONe of my all time favorite fuzzes, and the still produced DOD Flashback Fuzz isn't too bad either... |

I had the DOD overdrive plus for years and it's a good pedal but i find dod pedals to have too much hiss even in bypass mode.... i have the FZ-3 and it's not a bad fuzz,i don't use it much anymore but i would have to disagree with people recommending it for the types of music you described...it your looking for the Ernie Isley type fuzz sound..i.e the intro to 'summer breeze' you won't get it out of the FZ-3..i think ernie used a big muff and it's well documented that hendrix used a fuzzface, although there was a rumour going around that he was in discussions with mike matthews of EH about developing a fuzz pedal, some people say that the big muff was the result, released obviously after jimi passed away....the FZ-3 is ok,i got my best results with it,with an 0D-2 going into it for solos and going into a good valve amp..... |

I think this can be a big problem with boss distortions/fuzz/overdrives.. i had a strat i converted to clapton specs..i.e the noiseless pickups with active the mid booster and had big probs with these boss pedals....the duncan twin tube for some reason is ok.... but i'm going back to passive guitars anyway so i will probably be ripping the mid booster out sometime soon....... |

Hi Franzoni
Dr. Bob might be interested in that mid booster, is it the genuine one in the Clapton Strat? You know I have a Blackie, and I have been toying with the idea of doing the active boost on it.
I was $50 short of buying an as new Clapton Signature Strat, but the buggers at CashCon. wouldn't negotiate. ---- PERIOD. And I had it all as cash... They sold it for $600 less, a week later to a friend of the manager..
Regards Dr. Bob |

Have to get it on my 'board quick before anyone notices...... or else there is a park bench with my name on it somewhere,at least the weather is good at the moment.... ....i'm thinking of sticking my jap DS-1 back on as well as sometimes i need a distortion with less midrange than the twin tube..... |

| i have both an FZ2 and FZ3. as has been stated, the Fuzz3 is a fairly simple compressed fuzz, sounds great but isnt as versatile as the Hyper Fuzz. Fuzz mode 1 has an octave up added in i believe which sounds great. Fuzz mode 2 is absolutely filthy almost metal fuzz, sounds amazing!!! and the boost is brilliant. also theres a nice little treb/bass eq on the Hyper Fuzz which i prefare to the Fuzz3's basic tone control |
