Our drummer is a never ending source of amazement..he has nearly as many pedals as me... he also has a couple of guitars and isn't a bad guitar player either.... lately he dragged out a brand new rocktek analog delay for us to mess around with...not bad soundwise but maybe it's just me but i'll think i'll stick with my DD-3's for a while........ |

That can be very annoying. I once went to a jazz concert where during the encore, the accordian player picked up a guitar and played much better than the guitar player. You could easily see the guitar player not beeing happy about it |

had one of those old Pearl delays that i picked up in a shop in Angel in London for something like £30. played with it for a few years and gave it to a friend to mess around with when i got myself a DD-3.
Ah, but in the DD-3 you had the best delay pedal ever made, so why would you need that muddy old Analogue nonsense any more...? |

Hi FRANZONI & Guys
Rocktek were cheaper beginners type/brand pedal. In my world, they were considered to be the Berhringer's of years gone by.

viking:
i'd recommend the AD9 resissue as probably the easiest substitute to track down without breaking the bank (they're not cheap, but at least $100 cheaper than a DM-2/DM-3 runs now).
the AD10 was decent as well and can often be found for $20-40 less than the AD9. i will second the idea of the DOD as it can also be found fairly cheap if your timing is right (one went here for $50 last week).
if i remember correctly, the guyatone md-2 micro digital delay was the next closest delay i could find back in the '00-02 era when i was searching for a cheap delay that had tone quality as close to an analog delay.

Hi zentropa & guys
I know it's a bit off topic but, has anyone here played/used the Guyatone micro pedal compressor?
I have been hearing great things about this little box. I can start a new thread if need be.

Dr.Bob,
i screwed around on it briefly about 7 years ago when i was demoing the delay pedal.
keeping in mind i was using an unfamiliar guitar through an unfamiliar amp, if i remember correctly, it was quite subtle (not a bad thing to me). if more aggressive compressors can seem to "crush" tone, this is more like tone shrinkage. i remember it being more of a clean up type sound while retaining a lot of the original tone. i'm not sure if the current ones are the same as what i played (i saw they are on the MD3 now).
only downsides i've known about most of the guyaone micro pedals is that their jacks were pretty crappy. |

I´ll see what I can find/try.....I have a few few things in the works , incl. a DM3 , maybe something will happen. Im sure some of you know the feeling that it has to be a Boss pedal ! Theres something about the design of these things , I can just sit and stare at them........Dont tell my wife ! |

Careful now. That's exactly how my own obsession started. For a long time I desperately tried to convince myself that I wasn't collecting them. Even now when I got them all, I keep looking at Ebay auctions. |

Yeah , youre probably right......I just bought a DM-3 ! Seriously , one of the advantages of the the kids growing up , is that now I am able spend a bit more on MY toys ! Both my sons ( 16 and 19 yo ) play guitar , and even though they have Line 6´s and Valvetronix amps , they loooove swapping those pedals around on the boards, LOL......
Hmmm , my bandmate since forever have an early Boss phaser and a DS-1 with the silver screw that he never uses..... |

Congrats on the DM-3
It's almost your duty to relieve your band mate of his unused pedals. Ask yourself, would they have a better home at your place? |

I own both a DM2 and a DM3
But I also own a Ibanez Delay champ, which sounds very similar to the DM3 and is much cheaper (but be quick, the word is getting out).
The singer in my band has a AD9 reissue, which sounds good, but IMO much darker than the Boss delays.
A cheap option might be the new Artec analog delay (haven't tried it, but it's dead cheap) also an interesting option is the new MXR Carbon Copy (it includes optional modulation on the delay signal).
Hope this helps |

Anyway , I really want to get an analog delay to compliment my DD-3 , which I have had forever. I really didnt know about the current prices for old pedals these days , so I got rather shocked when I started looking for one of the old DM2/3 pedals. Besides the price , they seem to be really scarce. Anyone have advice for a substitute ? I know Boss didnt make others , what about the re-issue of the Ibanez AD-9 ? If any of you have a Boss pedal for sale let me know....
Well, I really nice option is the Ibanez DE7 Delay/Echo. I´m sure u r gonna like it! So, I have my DM-2A and the DE7. |

First off welcome to the forum from a place i think the vikings knew well.....dublin...!! congrats on the DM-3....i'm still in the nappy stages so a DM-3 is a bit out of reach for me at the moment....i got my Jap DS-1 out of the singers garden shed..it was lying there gathering dust...!! i also 'got' a mint FZ-3 off the drummer as well as a 2x12 cab with a couple of original greenbacks in it..... us irish have some viking blood in us,so a bit of pillage and plunder is in our nature as well.. ... so it would be very rude not to 'relieve' your bandmate of these pedals and put them to good use...... just don't whack him with a sword.... .... |
