I've noticed a lot of attention being given to patch leads and such to keep tone intact on this site, recommending George L's and stuff, but I thought I'd recommend a regular lead. I bought a fender "Koil Kord" yesterday and I think it's fantastic. It's a 30 foot "premium Koil Kord" but due to it being coiled it takes up pretty much all the slack between you and your amp, which is very convenient, if, like me, you hate having a mass of leads tangled on the floor. The jack plugs are good quality, one right angled plastic moulded plug and one shiny metal, and the lead itself is reassuringly heavy. As for the sound, they sound a little mid-rangey to my ears with slighty less treble, but I'm sure you all knew that already, seeing as that was the problem with them back in the sixties. Another point is that even with high gain, this lead is remarkably quiet, even on a direct A/B with a planet waves standard lead.
If you need any other reason to buy them, they look very, very cool.
Of course, if you need any more encouragement of their quality, it looks very much like Paul Gilbert is using one here.

I always get a kick out of this stuff... when people talk about a famous players tone ,they talk about guitars,pedals,amps,speakers etc......and guitar leads never or seldom come into the conversation.... good post.... ..... |

| I have heard lots of good things about these cords, and have also heard that these coil cords do not have some of the excess noise and other issues that some coil cords seem to have. |

| They also have that cool 'curly' rock god thing as well......there is always an image in my head of hendrix,jeff beck or brian may rocking out with those curly leads.....even the name sounds catchy.......koil kords.....starting the name with a K was a good marketing move..it grabs your attention....... |

Hi Guys
Just a quick heads up.
Kmart in Australia, are selling curly cords. (Around $20au)
My muso friend Justin, that I mention in the odd thread, bought one the other week.
I haven't tried it on my valve setup here, but for the few minutes that i tried it at his place it sounded pretty good.
I stopped using these when I was in my late teens.
But this one didn't suffer that horrible microphonic effect, from the excessive capacitance, due to the way they were manufactured & aging.
I am waiting till he gets off night shift, to ask him to bring it over.
i see, if I can post a later update.
The only thing I was a bit concerned about (initially) is that, it's very heavy, & the plugs may pull out, if you try to over stretch it.
Looks so cool though.
They are also selling:
Washburn Wah pedals (magnetic hall effect sensor - no pots)
The wah sounds surprisingly very good (Justin bought one as well as the lead) approc $80au
Guitar straps approx $7au

You aussies are so lucky ..... you can even get a cure for your G.A.S. when your out doing the weekly shopping......where are the wah pedals kept....??...beside the cornflakes... you can nearly hear dustin hoffman walking around saying.." chorus pedals from kmart ".....i heard there is a shortage of plumbers there at the moment ..i might even move there myself..... |

Its no Kmart, but I do believe Fender offers some new pedals to just either Target and/or WalMart. Starcasters too. |
