The X-tortion is the reason I started collecting boss pedals.

It sounds very nasal, I haven't tried it at a loud volume yet.

the XT-2 is....interesting.

the reason its not liked is because if you want a distortion pedal, it will most likely disappoint you. the way i see it is that Boss has like 20 OD/dist boxes. instead of making the XT-2 just another similar version of something thats already out, Boss made a monster. i hated mine at first because i tried using it as a distortion. i also bought it because people said its between a MT-2 and HM-2.

i consider it to be a "noise maker" pedal. you really have to tweak the knobs on this one but if you sit there and put the time into it you should be happy with the sounds you can coax out of this box. put it with a phaser or wah to make neat sounds. be creative!

i think this will definately climb in price too. i got mine mint with box for 40 bucks

Well, to be honest, that's really what I was looking at. Don't know that I really want it to use it, but I like to look out for some good values, too. So you think the $50 range is where it's at right now?

I predict that the XT-2 will be big in the future.
It just needs to show up on a major guitar player's pedal board first.

Hi Guys

I don't own one of these.................................. yet

Can this pedal be tamed down? with lower settings.

Or does it just run in extreme distortion mode.....

I didnīt like it at all for a couple of years but when me and my son got inte psychedelic music a year ago or so I tried it out again. And yes, as a noise maker itīs very good, it has a voice all of its own. Nasty and ugly, yes, but sometimes thatīs what you want.

When I got my XT-2 and tried it my first impression was: PANTERA sound. Believe me: no any (!!!) noise detected and the character of the getting tone could I feel never closer to the PANTERA sound in the BOSS pedal world! But its behaviour acceptable for (very) heavy metal only

I think that it is a flexible pedal as the distortion can be shaped so much. However, I find that it sounds MUCH better to me, followed by an EQ such as a GE-7 or MXR. The bottom really can suffer without an EQ afterwards, at least from what I can tell while dialing in the "ideal" distortion sound.

Progger I very much agree with you. I set my PQ-4 (heavy low) after my distortions and it makes my XT-2 (and others) sound great. And inbetween I add a SD-2 for trebble boost and I get a sustainable metal crunch.

Oh by the way, the XT-2 is my favorite distortion.

Damn! Almost had the Xt-2 in a straight trade for an SD-1, but got scooped!

A hugely underutilized pedal, that I think Bossarea is right on about, becoming famously collectible because some famous guy has it on his pedal board - someday.

I hated it so much when I plugged it in first time, and thought sh*t, they make like 50 distortion boxes, it's gotta do something right so I let go of all my hearing hangover and by also tweaking my amp, it produced some unique but useable signature sounds.

And most on the market are minty with box and papers because most peeps don't take the time to work this pedal and give up too fast.

Not a pedal for everyone, no way near a OD-1 or DS-1 MIJ, but, a useable pedal depening on you axe and amp.

Gettem now before Bossarea is deemed a prophet on the XT-1

Perhaps he'll be the

Prophet of XT-C

At least that's what his Girlfriend calls him.

this is seriously one of my fav pedals...you can do so much with it...and yes it can be very tame if you want it to...if you max the Level and Contour and total min. the Crunch and Dist. it makes sort of an od sound that clips kind of strange if you cut the tone or it bites really hard with say a single coil guitar...

and yes i like making noise music but you can use it for other sounds also...i use it to give a distinct sound to my signal...

and please lets not jinx this thing cause i want to get another one and don't want to pay too much, i got mine for $30 ...

so i don't like plugging my music or anything but on a track i did called "Winter 2" i used it with the settings i described after an ODB-3 with the Dry and Dist. at zero or minimum with a Strat so you can listen to hear what i was talking about if you like...it changes at 2:30 so nevermind that rubbish... http://www.myspace.com/haddadmusic

but yeah i'm not very technical so i don't know if i could really describe what kind of sound it makes but i will say i love this pedal to death...
