Welcome to Bossarea ovrdrv123!
The RV-5 was very harsh with it's Tone control anywhere past 9:00 so I dumped it.
The FRV-1 is much, MUCH better for me now.
I have a VanAmps Sole-Mate unit with the Accutronics tank inside & its great as well. |

thanks so much! i love these forums, i'm glad to be here. i've never tried any of Boss' RV series so i was just curious, i have read some reviews saying that the RV series are too quiet. the only other reverb i've ever owned was a Digitech XRV (digiverb) i traded it in after a couple months for practically nothing because i disliked the pedal that much lol it was either to much decay or too little and very tone coloring in my honest oppinion |

They are two totally different reverbs, I like both. RV-5 has a lot of different reverb types, all are good except the spring reverb. FRV-1 is a one trick pony but it does this very, very good. At the moment I use FRV-1 the most.
If you want versality go for RV-5, if you want a really good “spring” reverb only go for FRV-1.

yea, i'm currently using the FRV-1, i may be interested in the modulate mode but if it's not worth $149.99 USD i'll just stay with the FRV-1. im lovin the FRV-1 one tho for sure! thanks |
