Joe Bonamassa made this post to his fans today on Facebook: "Eishhhh tough night for me. I had some rig problems, I made some stupid mistakes and my 15 year old Boss DD-3 delay died after 2000 shows and 11 albums... Rest in Peace little one. You served me very well."

I read on the official Joe Bonamassa forum awhile ago that Joe uses two DD-3s. One is (or rather "was"  ) stock, and the other is a Keeley modded one that is only used with a Theremin (sp?) amp. As for settings, he reportedly sets all knobs at 12:00. |

Joe runs (or ran)his DD-3 thru the effects loop on his Marshall jubliee head with all the controls(as previously mentioned) at 12 o'clock....he uses a 2nd amp with reverb at the same time..normally he uses 4 amps in his setup but the marshall is always one of them..the others are various custom heads based on marshall/dumble amps..he uses two 4x12 cabs with EV 12L speakers split so each amp uses two speakers... he is also a monster player.... .... |

He really is a great player! I saw him when he was in Copenhagen sometime last year. However, I can't remember a single song of his. It was a display of a guy owning with ye' ol' faithful Les Paul + Marshall setup. Very impressive, but not that interesting. Kinda like Steve Vai, they just don't make tunes you remember. Out of the singing guitar heroes bunch John Mayer writes the best material right now.

Yep i think thats a problem with a lot of players these days rather than developing the song it's more about getting to the guitar solo or the riff.... |

I agree with this but would also say Satriani is an exception. He's always wrote songs with great melody and all the parts. He's proved that as an instrumentalist and now with Chickenfoot. As for John Mayer, he's a good guitar player but I would not put him in the same category as the others guys mentioned here. |
