I bought some "official" replacement knobs off eBay, and well, they are not like the original boss knobs, i.e. as found on the CE-2, DS-1 etc.

I also bought some set screw ones from Radio Shack, and they too, have a slight taper to the top whereas the Boss original ones have NO TAPER, and looked from the side, they are perfectly cylindrical.

Where do you get these from??? [:(!

I buy them direct from Roland Canada. Also bought some from Small Bear that look, to my eye, identical (haven't looked minutely though).

I am thinking from Roland they otta be no taper ... but the person I bought them from on eBay 'swore to me' he bought a crate from Roland ... and Roland of course, has minium order charges etc, so I really didn't want to pay like $15.00 for two knobs ... GRR ... so i bought them from him, to my ultimate dissappointment.

I also needed one of those Black thumb screws once, and the boys at L&M bought a dozen and kept one for me too, so while i have been able scrounge here and there, it seems i have to just buckle down and place an order from Roland.

For now though, maybe the thing to do will order some of those thumbscrews, thumbscrew hole grommets, pedal springs, and maybe even some of those pesky 'I lost my contact lense' nylon washers on the pedal screws, aluminum washers for the pots, and metal washers for the i/o jacks. Funny how eBay pedals are always missing one of these things!

That otta make the handling charge worth placing an order!

boss has used several different ones over time.

some have set screws, others do not.

the radio shack ones have usually been sufficient for the amount of care that i have for it, but i usually keep a couple laying around when i replace a set with 1 missing the silver tops, etc.
