Hey guys, Ive been into boss for a long time and Ive picked up all these little tidbits of info over the last decade or so. If you get all these right you get nothing.
1. What is the only boss pedal to ever have a textured finish? 2. What is the first boss pedal to have a metallic finish? 3. Name all pedals originally available in silver screw versions 4. What was the first year plastic screws were placed on pedals? 5. Name the pedals with stamped serial numbers. 6. Which pedals produce two effects simultaneously (hint, there are 4) 7. Which pedals have predecessors that are non-compact? 8. What was the first product to display the Boss name and logo? 9. Which pedal(s) are available with magenta labels? 10. Which two pedals have shipped in larger than standard boxes, why? 11. Which pedal included more than words on its label? 12. Which is the only Boss compact pedal to not have a battery lead? 13. Which pedals have been "updated" with fewer features? 14. What are the two label colors on current Boss pedals 15. Name, in order, the top three rarest boss pedals. |

So, do we post answers here? I'll give it a try, will remove if you want the answers sent to you in stead. I mean otherwise, how are we going to know who got the "nothing" prize?
I'm no expert, but this sounds like fun - I'll give it a try;
1. The FZ-3 Fuzz? 2. What is the first boss pedal to have a metallic finish? 3. OD-1, CE-2 4. 1983 5. ? 6. MZ-2, ?, ?, ? 7. CE-2 (CE-1 pre), VB-2 (CE-1 pre), ? 8. The name was on that old acoustic guitar "preamp", but did it have the logo? 9. ? 10. PSM-5 (included power supply), ? 11. ? 12. PSM-5 13. ? 14. Green and black 15. SG-1, SP-1, VB-2 |

It's a good quiz but if you're 100% sure about all the answers you must surely affiliated with Roland/Boss.
1. FZ-3 2. The CE-3 3. We discussed this in a different thread. Not sure if we ever got them all though. OD-1, PH-1, SP-1, GE-6, DS-1, CS-1, TW-1, NF-1, SG-1, CE-2 and BF-2 (jury is still out on the PH-1r) 4. I believe 1980 but this in unconfirmed. 5. I would guess the same ones as under question 3 + the PH-1R. 6. MZ-2 (chorus, dist), OC-3 (octave, dist), RV-3 (reverb, delay) DD-5 (delay, coffee machine). 7. CE-2 (CE-1), BF-2 (BF-1), VB-2 (CE-1), DM-2 (DM-1), GE-6 (GE-10) not counting Roland products like PH-1 based on the Roland AP-2 etc. Also not sure if we can say that some pedals are based on the DB-5. 8. CE-1 9. Magenta, that some sort of purple colour isn't it? Can't recall any pedals with this colour label. 10. RV-2 and PSM-5 (comes with power adapter) 11. PSM-5 12. RV-2, PSM-5 13. RV-3 (RV-5), DD-5 (DD-6) 14. Dark Gray, Silver 15. In order? You need to have Boss production numbers if you know this for sure. I would say SP-1, GE-6, SG-1 but that's only based on the number of Ebay auctions popping up on Ebay UK over the last 3 years. |

hey dudes, here's another one...
why do all compact pedals have a "clicking" sound on the upper right corner of the foot pedal top?....
you'll notice this when you press the upper right corner (where it says "input") and no other place of the pedal top...

I would say its because of the spring underneath the pedal |

Yes, where's the answers?
I just found out that my answer to question 8 was wrong. Reading the Boss book again I discovered that the first product to use the Boss logo was the B-100 Preamplifier, also called "The Boss" |

Yeah, thats where the brand name "BOSS" came from. |
