Hi y'all - just wondering if anyone had any good accessible storage ideas - i got fed up having my pedals either in a big box or scattered about the floor so i did this -

On your next upload, please re-size your pics to be a bit smaller,

Using a unit i made in the loft for storage i knocked up a couple of sliding shelves using some drawer runners and 22mm ply. Gonna do a few more and store the boxed ones the same way. Makes them a lot easier to keep in order. Anyone else got any storage ideas to share ????

Dr Bob,
looks like a zoom gfx-4 to me 
you can see it better on the third pic down. The same question crossed my mind as well  |

It may look very nice, all those pedals stacked up, but what about dust man? You will need to dust them down from time to time.
I prefer boxes and get some pedals out from time to time and play and play. Heh, I am more of the practical kind, I do not like damage caused by dust, I prefer pedals in boxes that I need to dig up from time to time.
I guess if you can put some glass on the shelves than all is fine. |

Or, this is how I keep the dust out - you just need to eat heaps of chocolate (or know someone that will!)...
Works fine for me - I got 36 of these stacked up now - looks like a mini container yard

Yip - its a gfx 4 - not 2 bad for quick sounds and general nonsense !!
I sussed out the picture post routine after i had posted them - will do better next time. Liked the idea with the chocolate boxes - im sure my wife wont mind me buying her maybe 100 of them !!!
Dusting isnt too much of a bother - ive got lots of odds and sods on this unit that collect dust quickly so im used to keeping on top of it. I prefer them out the boxes so i can get at them without any hassle - i find if something is labourious or long winded (find the effect,take out box,remove manual,wire into board,power up,take back out etc...)i tend not to do it so having them at hand and easy to see works for me.
Thanks for the comments - perspex doors might be an option - being a joiner has its uses !!! |

I love the Ferrero boxes. When I see them for sale, I am very tempted.
I keep mine behind glass, so they don't get too dusty. The unit is pure IKEA.  The pedals prop up just fine on their own (although the silver and black screws don't stand at the same angle). I don't have many boxed pedals so I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to display them. This case is getting a little full and I might need to do some creative shelving..  or put some in that shallow top drawer..

I totally agree Ollie.
The more you have the more problems you create and the more time it takes to get things done.
We all strive to have a lot, have the aspirations to aquire as much as we can and I am not suggesting we should stop have aspirations and motivations towards those goals but really when you can keep things simple live is much easier and cheaper. |

I see BOSS collecting as a pretty benign kind of material passion. The most you could possibly spend on a single piece is $1000, which is nothing in the world of collectibles. I feel bad for boutique-only players/collectors who spend wads every piece they own..
My camera collection, despite only containing a couple real worthy pieces, probably cost as much or more than my entire BOSS collection..
But there is something about people and collecting.. I think everyone does have their little addiction, it's just a comforting thing in this violent and swine-flu-ridden world we live in. |

Excellent Laurie - because it's hard to judge the scale - especially with where the ceiling appears to be - those pedals look huge !!  (attack of the 50 ft pedals.... )
Great boxes (better than my choccy boxes) and excellent cataloguing / labelling - I wish I was as diligent with mine - BTW - what is the significance of the coloured spots? (just curious)

Green spot = definitive example. Good condition, full documentation, box. Condition score of 9/10 or 10/10.
Yellow spot = works perfectly, but condition is not good (less than 9/10). Actively seek a better one.
Green+yellow spots = not perfect, but good enough to be considered definitive if a better one never comes along. No need to actively look for a better example. |
