Hi there folks. There is a MIT CS-3 at my local pawn shop. And it has aca adapter instead of PSA. So I presume its on early MIT version? They are asking for 70 bucks for it , should I get it? Cheers
I just modded one of these guys for a customer! I thought it was weird too. Date code has it manufactured March 1996 (S/N MI48474). At first I thought something was fishy because on battery the led was bright, worked just fine. On wall wart power I didn't have a light, and no sound from the chip adapter (NE5532 stacked with a BurrBrown). Removed a diode and resistor replaced them with jumpers, and things worked just fine.
that's more than likely a DBX unit.. I would say YES! Even the current CS-3s go for about that on the used market.
I just opened mine it's been on my various boards since i bought it new in early 1996..i recently replaced it with Lauries excellent HZD booster..the sticker is missing inside the battery compartment but i opened it and it has the THAT chip...it is also MIT and ACA...so not all the MIT ACA powered CS-3's are DBX...i also know i bought it at the beginning of '96 as my rack had been stolen while i was on hols the previous autumn from a band i was playing with so i was buying some pedals to get back on the road..i got this from a music dealer who got around sunday trading at the time by selling off a stall in a flea market on sunday mornings....
