Hi all, I'm about to buy this chorus pedal: <a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/ahlustik/dodchorus.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a> but I cannot find any info about it on the net. Can anyone help me identify the model? Thanks Tony

OK, so I searched some more and found that there is a DOD FX62 BASS Chorus that was made in this color (sort of metallic brick red). The seller assured me his unit is not a bass chorus though. The placement of the model name is weird - as if the "FX62" and "Bass" is omitted (or erased somehow) on the left.
I think it could be that the factory had red boxes prepared for the bass units but fitted them with guitar innards for some reason. Maybe they were surplus or I don't know. The seller sent me a better pic, see http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/ahlustik/dodchorus-lepsifoto.jpg and it seems that no lettering was erased from the face of the pedal, if I can trust the photo quality anyway.
The seller also sent me a pic of the serial number that goes FX789995. Is there an online resource for DOD serial numbers? |

I've been collecting DOD serial numbers for just such a resource, but the best I can tell you at the moment is that serial number and other physical aspects of the pedal are all consistent with a production date ca. 1986-1988... except for the model name. without question, that is the first version of the DOD FX62 bass stereo chorus pedal, as also seen here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260073523808
I have a later version, and it is a decent bass chorus. while it may work fine with guitar, it is NOT designed as a guitar chorus pedal.
*edited -- that pedal is more likely to be mid-late '80s than late '80s |

Hi pawnshop,
Do you know anything more about the DOD serialnumbers? Thing like how they work ect.? I am sure a lot of us here will be interested in that perhaps you could open up a new topic about that subject, I am sure many of us here would appreciate it, and would help you out with providing serialnumbers as it seems that quite of few of us here do lke the DOD pedals as well. Cheers! |

I do not know any exact correlation between production date and serial numbers (yet), like we have with the Boss SN decoder. however, I have become very familiar with the chronology of cosmetic features (which type of footswitch or logo came first, etc.) of DOD's FX-series pedals. I need to open up more of pedals to get an idea of the date from the component codes, and will gladly share my (preliminary) findings thereafter.
if others are interested, I think the best place to start would be to nail down the production dates of the DOD pedal with the shortest lifespan, the FX33 Buzz Box. I can't afford such a pedal, but if anyone here has one and would like to open it up, I would definitely be interested in the results.

Great stuff pawnshop. We could open up a dedicated DOD thread where people could post their pedals and their serialnumbers. I have also noticed the differences in where the label is, the knobs and the variations in any of these things, it looks a little similar to the Bosspedals, except that with the DOD's there seem to be a lot more variations. |

Hi Pawnshop, thanks for your input. The pedal actually sounds nice with a guitar. I will have to try it with my bass too. I also have an old DOD FX90 analog delay and a DFX9 digital delay. I'll look up the serial numbers and post them if it's any help.
Thanks again. And good night Tony |
