I'm building a modified version of the PQ-4 but the M5218AL opamp no longer exists so i looked up some alternatives. The list became rather long and i cannot afford to test them all so i was hoping you guys could help me narrow it down a bit:

LM741CN
JRC741D

JRC4558D
JRC4558DD
LM4558
TS4558
RC4558P (TI)

RC4559

Thanks, Nosi

I should have looked on small bear, i just searched the 2 german sites i know! It's rather expensive though, even excluding shipping. I think i'm going to try some of the others i found and if i don't like them i'll order that one from smallbear. any advice on which ones are good for an EQ?

For equalizers I would go for the RC4559

yeah thats the site that i was going to order from. what makes you choose for the 4559 does it have less distrotion and more gain than the 4558? i tried googling the differences but couldn't find anything usefull.

The RC4559 has higher specs, e.g. higher gain-bandwidth product and slew rate at unity gain, and lower equivalent input noise voltage.

They are approximately the same price as the RC4558, so for the same price you get a bit higher quality component.

The 4559s where used on the Sniper GE7 mod 'cause it warmed up the tone compared to the stock IR9022.
For a clean signal with low background noise you could try a TL072 or a NE5532 op amp, and maybe a 4558/4559 at where PQ4's IC5 is.
They're cheap too
