When using two ods/dists I really like the combination of first BD-2 then DS-1.
BD-2 alone gives a nice crunch, DS-1 alone gives a nice distortion, both together sets the amp on fire
Anyone of you have a favourite combination of this sort?
Somebody even using three pedals for this effect?

Absolutely! I have this order:

SD-1 (set for a little dirt) > BD-2 (more gain and a bit fatter sounding) > Digitech DF7 (set to sound like a DOD 250)

I use the SD-1 for semi-clean stuff like a rockabilly/blues type sound, the BD-2 for a classic rock overdrive sound and the DF7 as a lead boost with more gain (not as a clean boost). SD-1 and BD-2 together for a more heavy distortion, sometimes all three at once for a screaming lead sound.

I've heard that SRV did something like this with two Tube Screamers.

I personnaly love to put my OD-1 after a dist unit. It cuts the harsch trebles, and gives this medium colour... hm...

I'm doing this as well. Usually I mix an overdrive and a distortion pedal. I've been using the OD-2/PW-2 combination for a while now but I'm thinking about changing it because it's got too much metal sound and not enough crunch.

i usually always use 2 distortions. you can even use 2 "heavier" distortions together with settings set low without getting muddy sounds. one of my favorites for lead is the MD-2 with the MZ-2 on Chorus 2 setting.

Also the BD-2 SD-1 combo is very nice.

have to say im never a big fan of boss od/dist,but i have tried combining the ibanez ts-9 following with the ds-1,sort of fatten and add more gain and warmth to the dist.settled with ts-9 into mxr double shot dist later, got really rich, creamy tones bt lacking on subtle nuances of playing, now looking to try a visual sound jeckyll n hyde or maybe fulltone fd2 (im actually trying to solve the problem of having to stomp on 2 pedals to get into dist mode)but would try the od-1 or bd-2 if have the chance.

i put my Ibanez TS-7 (in TS-9 mode) after my DS-1... i set the DS-1 at zero distortion, tone at abt 9o'clock and gain at 10o'clock... it's like this "middish" overdrive IMHO... i set the TS-7 at zero drive, tone at 1o'clock and level at 1o'clock... it juz sorta adds dis crunch to my sound... i realli like the sound tt comes out from it...

DiGsY...

i use the ds1 for a crunch sound and the od2 for lead,if the song requires a dirty rythmn sound i just leave the ds1 on when i kick in the od2 for a solo... i used to have a fz3 on the board as well but it didn't like the od2 in non turbo mode.. so at the moment their the only dist/overdrive i use ...i also like the ds1 with the cs3 in front of it pushing the sound i sometimes use that as a lead sound as well,i keep the distortion and the treble way back and the level up nearly full on the ds1.....

I use a SD-1 for my normal sound (with the guitar level low), or my normal rythm sound with my guitar volume on full.
When a solo is needed, I usually turn on a DS-1 that I have before the SD-1 on the pedal chain. Or I'd use the DS-1 ==> SD-1 combination for a crunch sound (on heavier songs), and use the DS-1 ==> OD-3 combination for solos.
To achieve a certain feedback effect when needed, I'd use the
CS-3 ==> DS-1 ==> SD-1 or CS-3 ==> DS-1 ==> OD-3 combination depending on the sound I'm after.
Using the two overdrives at the same time (SD-1==> OD-3) also sounds very good...
I found that the DS-1 was too "scooped", sterile, and thin sounding, plus the level was to low (had to be maxed out to achieve the normal sound of the guitar)... But all of that disappeared when I put an overdrive after it (BOSS's overdrives sound mid-boosted to my ears), the level wasn't a problem anymore, it just made the ODs sound veeeeery thick and boosted the drive of any pedal a lot. Just remember to keep the gain/drive level of the pedals you're combining low.

I like a OD1 combined with a BD2 some great sounds when playing chords and then you can use the OD1 to kick it up again!

Looks like i have the same vision as Boss Freak.

However, i usualy run my BD-2 into the SD-1 (SD-1 is sent away for a Keeley mod though)

I know it is not all-Boss Products, but i also like to do the following :

BD-2 into MXR Micro Amp
SD-1 into MXR Micro Amp
ZW44 into MXR Micro Amp

I highly recommend using the FZ-2 boost mode in front of an OD. I like to use it to boost the BD-2.

i've been using my fz3 again lately on my board and i've found that if i'm using it with my od2 turning the volume on the guitar down a notch cleans the sound up a bit and takes the rough edge off the fz3,this way i can get that eric johnson 'violin' sound especially with some delay....i can also hear some dave gilmour in there,,by the way i'm using the od2 in non turbo mode with a plain ol' strat and tele....
