Hey everyone!

I just picked up a DD-2 and noticed that it's quite a bit more noisy (hum) than my other Boss pedals, especially when I use the AC adapter. This seems to be a known issue but I haven't seen any solutions.

Any suggestions on how to cut down on the noise? Thanks!

G'day JCM800PDX and welcome!

The DD-2 requires a regulated adapter - specifically a Boss PSA. If you are using "any old 9V adapter", you will get hum. Can you let us kow what adapter you are using? Thanks!

Hi JCM800PDX and welcome to the forum.

Not only does the DD-2 require a regulated adapter, it also needs a good quality regualted adapter. I tried to run a DD-3 using a regulated adapter that I bought from the local petrol station. This produced a load hum but when I changed to a Boss PSA adapter, the hum diappeared completely.

Thanks for the responses!

Good catch on which adapter to use - I was using an ACA adapter, and switching the the PSA adapter made all the difference. Although I was looking forward to getting out the old soldering iron...

Thanks again!

That's interesting. My DD-2 and DD-3 won't even turn on with an ACA adapter...

Anyway, glad it's sorted!

It's a newer (9 volt) ACA adapter... I don't know if that would make a difference.

Thanks again for the help!

Laurie
Yes PSA
with DD2 in the chain of effects puts a PSA source separated for him
DD-2 is a wonderful pedal (better than DD-3, hot and natural)..but has strong personality... it likes to be demanding
