I am using a telecaster through a Boss AC3 acoustic simulator, into a Fender 250W PA system and getting nowhere near enough volume. Please can anyone suggest a way of boosting the signal from the Boss AC3 without changing the sound. Do I need a preamp and if so, which one?
I'm guessing that the AC-3 or any other Boss pedal, doesn't have enough output level, to drive the inputs on the Fender PA. Does it also have a Mixer type panel?
Which type of input on the PA are you jacking the AC-3 into. Is it one of the Low-Impedance ones? Or is it straight into the Input sockets?
Do you have any specs on the PA inputs? Maybe you have one of the 20dB pads on the PA switched on
Basically your PA is not designed to have an electric guitar plugged direct to it.
Your guitar needs an amplifier!
Just because the pedal is an Acoustic Simulator does not mean you can use the guitar without an amp, The pedal (like all Boss compact pedals) is designed to go in-front of an amp, or in the effects loop.
The only way to use the pedal (or any other Boss pedal) without an amp is to have some sort of DI Box somewhere between the guitar and the PA.
I don't use any amps (live or studio) with my electric guitars or basses but use Tech 21 Sansamp DI Boxes instead.
