It's just a words game, not another Fabius' english error.

Yes the guitar, the pedals, the ampli, the sound, cables... anything needs to obtain a good result, but also a good strap: confortable, sadomaso, glam, short, long... tell your strap(s).

This is a part of mine straps:

1. Fender, my first serious strap bought both with my first electric guitar (1980) and customized with the "fashion" of that time.

2. Unknown, a gift of the shop saler when I've bought the Ibanez Destroyer.

3. Selfmade in the metal period and re-worked to add the Di Marzio secure-lock.

4. Silver Eagle, bought during my militance in a glam-metal group, not bad but too much flexible.

5. Another gift of the shopsaler used to play with all my Yamaha acoustics.

6. Exclusively for the JEM77FP! Same green as the flowers in the body.

7. I own twice of these Di Marzio silver strap one for the Strato and one for the Les Paul.

8. Simple black Di Marzio to be used in my Cort Steinberger replica.

9. The stars reminded me to a group with a character with a star painted in one eyes, but I don't remember now the name...

10. Same as above but the character has two silver lightining instead of star. Used on Ibanez Destroyer.

11. Unknown, used on Yamaha Travel.

12. My friends call it "Pope's strap", but I like it too much. The secure lock suggests that I still use it (on the Strato).

13. Another gift when I've bought Les Paul, I've leave in a drawer for years, thne, when I've came back to secure lock, I've searched and now is used on my Les Paul.

I, too, have the first one (without the studs) - came with my Strat in 2001!
I like the Les Paul strap, and I think, the "Pope Strap" the best!!

4evrnewB, perhaps I've chosen the L.P. strap 'cause has the same colours of my Heritage Sunburst L.P. The "Pope Strap" is the Indocine Purple model by Get'Em Get'Em: http://www.getmgetm.com/world.htm

DeFrag, I like the snakestrap tooooooooo much since I saw it to Richie Meatlock during Blackfoot period! I'm searching for it but I can't find it... obviously not of REAL snake, I love animals including my mother of law!

Uhm.... copper cobra... uhm... http://www.getmgetm.com/animalprints.htm

My next goal is customize black n. 11 with the leaves theme on the Jem77FP fretboard.

I use DiMarzio Cliplock straps mostly, but have 2 guitars with Schaller strap locks, and the straps are Dean Markley and Fort Bryan.

I've used Di Marzio for years, but at a moment I've decided that the same reason of my chose was the limit: I can't use ALL the straps! Simple.

I've always used No.1 stretch straps - german made I think..

Don't know if they're made any more - seems hard to come by.. But excellent for my heavy Fender Lead 2' s

Cheers

Number 8 for me, simple black and very flexible. When i first bought it was very stiff but not it is flexible and very comfortable. Cliplocks are the best solution i believe.

I have the first one..the fender with the straploks which i use mostly....i also have a fender that my mother covered for me years ago when i was still living with the folks as a suprise, she covered it in some material she had a sort of dark velvet that reflects when it hits the light..she got the idea when she saw a video i had of clapton in the 90's when he was using the custom versace straps.... she also made me a matching amp cover that was really cool for the musicman combo...i think it's still in my old room....i hope.....my cousin cleared me out a couple of years ago of all my old vinyl and stuff i wasn't using...i also had a heavy duty wide leather strap for the yamaha sg 2000S 'cause it's even heavier than a les paul custom... and you need a good comfortable strap with it on a long gig.....good topic.........

P.S...the fender straps the fabius and i have are much better quality than the newer ones, mine is 80's vintage as well and still going strong..i also had a red one i swapped that was a sister of the black and gold one............

Kulten, ouch... I can feel pain in my shoulder thinkin' 'bout it! Figure it that strap without soft piece of leather and the weight of my Les Paul (5 kg)!

When I've started to play I can found only three kind of straps: the Fender like n.1 (black with yellow & orange themes or blue with red & white themes), the thin like yours and the strap for the classical: a sort of loop to fit around the neck with a plastic hook that must be placed in the downside of the hole of the guitar body. Woe to imitate some rocker and forget that isn't a normal guitar strap and so leave the neck of the guitar, the results should be a crash of the guitar or a self-hangin'!

You're right it was red with blue & white monograms and Fender logos.
